I think those messages are worthless. Only reason why to have them is confirmation of kill for bountyhunters. Many ppl kill another ppl just because they want have their name on screen"loook I am pwner".
Much as I would love the entering/leaving messages to go altogether, there is a minor problem, one
concerning evidence for F1 violations sadly. I'm not actually sure we can edit those either, I will go
and check thoroughly though. Be nice to have those a little more RP orientated.
Thiago, I was thinking along the same lines last night, something easier and neater for the death
messages, I have one written down currently ...
<charname> had their ship (totally) destroyed by <charname>
The (totally) being debatable ... I'll change it later, and you can all comment on it. The rest I will check
on whether we can do it, and how easy it will be.

A good point Stoat, and one that Del has re-enforced to me. You let me blindly change these things after
just two cups of coffee. What do you expect ?
Oh, and I changed the self-killing message now. Someone go and try it please ...
As I always say at times like this "If in doubt, blame Zelot"

<charname> has been disabled by <charname>.
Indeed, for characters bearing the name of a ship my last proposal was silly. Also, I think the "(totally)" bit in destroyed is not only debatable, but detrimental. In fact, "destroyed" in itself is debatable since ships and characters seem to be impervious to destruction, so why not reflect that leaving "some room for interpretation"?
Even though our ships blow up in space, venting all internal atmosphere and suffering complete structural failure, they just appear again eventually. For that matter, "disabling" works better and makes more sense in RP regardless of how it's explained afterwards. It even leaves room for the ship to be indeed destroyed in RP. Great euphemism in that, disabled, but still works all right.
