How about you dont spam every related thread and create a new very sarcastic one? Sorry, this just kinda bugged me. But what I really want to know is how the activities required to get a guard rep provided roleplay, as you said this command bypasses roleplay.
Edit: and i dont really mind you having a differing opinion, I just want to understand it so I can have a more informed opinion. Sorry again it this did not seem like the case.
Getting a guard rep has nothing to do with roleplay. It's simply setting up your character. Just like flying from Pennsylvania to wherever your ID is sold.
"cap whores" and "pvp whores" can easily get a guard rep - not due to the /drop rep command, but due to the rep system. You can get a full guard rep simply by doing missions - you only need guard rep to buy guard IDs and equipment, not an IFF.
The drop rep command allows you to get a guard tag or to remove unwanted affiliations (Liberty police on a trader, for example). It has nothing to do with acquiring guard IDs. Edit: you can bribe a faction, drop rep then repeat to get a guard tag. But who cares - missions just take a bit longer. No deal, players will still get guard reps one way or another.

Ok dude ... listen (or rather read) carefully here. Spam is where you have no point to make other than to add to your post count. I "actually" have an opinion and it just happens to disagree with yours. So drop this crap about me spamming.
And good to know you're bugged ... because that's precisely why I posted my new thread. I'm trying to make a point here. My "/setrep" thread is taking this "/droprep" discussion to the next level. If you refuse to entertain the possibility that this "/droprep" command just MIGHT possibly get abused then you missed the point. This is a discussion ... and discussions have more than one point of view. If we all agreed with each other we would have no need to discuss anything. Just sew our mouths shut and nod in agreement and we can drink tea and have cookies ... hmm ... would need to remove the stitches for the tea and cookies.
If we have insta-reps for role play ... then lets go the next step and provide insta-ships and equipment. You're gonna have abuse in this command ... and I'm just waiting to see who the first guy (or gal) is to get a sanction for rep'ing themselves into an Administrator tag.
Alright, It wasnt 100% spam, all of your posts had a point, I just thought that posting the same point 3 times was a little spammy, so if you dont feel that way it is fine. I am entertaining the possibility, I just dont understand how it is abusable, tell me how it is abusable, it lets you not do misssions against NPC's over and over again, how is that abuse? I dont get it...

Do tell how you intend to accomplish this feat of raising Admin rep (which is not tied to any other reps, anyways, I believe) through application of a rep dropping command?

Explain to me how it "supports" role play.
I understand making your change quicker is the goal ... to get to the rep you want ... but I'd rather see it tied to the ID you mount on your ship ... NOT something you can change yourself.

*frustrated laugh* Never said I personally intend to do such a thing. But if you cannot see the potential for such a thing ... well ... I guess we can't all see the future then. Go ahead ... keep your blinders on.

Maybe we should remove bribes as they may be abused to get Nomad rep? [/sarcasm]
I still cannot fathom where you get the idea that any action you could possibly take will increase your admin rep...

Its not a huge leap to understand that if you can get a Guard rep quicker ... that it DOES in fact help you increase reps. By reducing reps of the enemies of the rep you are trying to obtain, your choice rep is easier to gain (through bribes, missions, etc). But ... it DOES help you get there faster. And since the Administrator rep is enemy with ALL reps ... all you gotta do is /droprep like mad until everyone is red with you ... trust me ... the Administrator faction DOES in deed improve as you repfix.
Check yours out ... I'll bet the Administrator faction is NOT your most red faction on your rep list. Why? You can't bribe for Administrators ... you cannot fly missions for them ... the ONLY thing you can do to improve your rep with Administrators is to "drop" your reputation with other factions.
EDIT: At least until you can get the Administrator faction neutral to you so you can dock on their base and buy stuff.
Have you tried out the function yet, Baltar?
If so, you would know that the /droprep command only drops your tag, and a *tenth* ( that's 1/10! ) of one block. So you'd need to get 10 /droprep commands to drop one block of a reputation.
So that's 7 million just for dropping one block.
So let's see how much you'll spend trying to drop a rep to the bottom. *sigh*

Nope ... don't plan on using it either ... but read a few of the responses here. You've got some people begging to drop the price and make the command drop it more ... and you got others bragging about how quickly they got their guard reps. So while this 1/10th of a drop may not sound like much ... its making a huge impact already. One guy even bragged he spent only 6 mil to get his Guard rep.
