I was not suggesting a link with a specific unlawful faction. LH or LR where just examples, hence I agree with your comment on these two specific factions. My argument was aimed (in general) at the kind of relations MND should have with criminals operating in enemy countries.

This thing is something I would not completely agree... there is a big difference in the meaning attached to the word "honorability" by army members or by intelligence members. Army members would always fight in open field, wearing uniforms and would never hide their uniforms under in civilian clothes. Intelligence member are going to disguise using civilian clothes (something seen as not honorable from an army point of view). Hence, why using civilian ship should be seen as honorable and having connections with criminals would not? There are many RL historical examples in which intelligence of powerful countries used foreign criminals (and even domestic criminals), and kept good relations with them in order to weaken enemies. Having this flexibility in relations with criminals would give a full new dimension to the possible RP.
' Wrote:What I could imagine, would be a complete database of the MND personnel with name and cover name somewhere in the forums. So we could ensure the integrity of this faction.
I only suggested tags for Corvettes, to keep them obvious. Fighters/bombers should carry names of pilots or their respective cover names without any tag.
I'm not sure it's a good idea. In this way there would not be any way to distinguish, in game, "true" MND members and "indy" ones. We cannot expect all the disco players to memorize the names of all the MND members so to be able to meta-role-play in the right way with MDNs. To be honest if the people role-play in the right way, for the charachter there should not be any difference between an opponent wearing a MND-tag and one wearing no tag. On the contrary it makes a big difference for the good (role) players, helping them to RP in the right way.
Moreover... you are suggesting... "no tag" + "no proper reputation shown". It's a big departure from general server rules. If all the other faction leader agree to this exception I don't see it as a problem but without a general agreement on this point, in the community, I'm not sure it's a good idea.
my 2 cents.

Knowing origin by the ID info isnt metagaming. ID reading can be explained by many ways.
Maybe a not so well chosen example of me. Sure the ID reading can be explained, but there are certain IDs where it is not this easy.
Scan the MND guy and you see an Eagle using civinial guns with an MND ID.
In RP you ask him for his papers and you get, surprise, either Civilian or Corporation/freelancer papers of the are he is operating in.
As long as his cover is not blown due to previous actions, the MND ID is not telling anybody that he is with the MND if it comes down to the RP.
But thats another topic.
My only concern is that those people from the faction will be recognized as such.
Making your shiny new faction popular and known opens up some locked gates to the official way of life.

Should this be our problem? The information are accessible by the public. Everybody is free to get them. We are not responsible for the actions of indies. So if any indy decides to make trouble... let him do it. He will face the consequences of his actions. The members are listed as such and responsible for their deeds.
' Wrote:Look at the Lane Hackers. It is possible. Or the Phantoms.
Considering Phantom ID isnt available to all, they dont need tag. ID/IFF alone stands as tag in their case, for only their members can get it.
As for LH im not sure if you are right. Hellfire legion Id isnt reachable as well, so that's probably the same thing as Phantoms. (if you meant HL id of course)

No, I was talking about the Lane Hackers, not the Hellfire Legion. I remember them, having cover names and no official tag as well, what makes sense for them.
