A minor rant that is sort of in the same vein as this thread.
Trading in Galia is hard, mostly due to the darn bomber patrols.
I barely got away from a bomber patrol (FOUR of them!!) the other day and I reckon I only managed that because I have a AU8 hooked up.
Had a hard time getting away due to anti-cruise missile spam when ever I cranked them up and only the fact that I was near a TL junction (fire from the TL's = bonus) and there was a small debri field as well (debri blocks fire from bombers = bonus) let me get away at all!
Add to that the two GRP guys RP'ing (and they were good, so I rp'd back) and all the 'fun' went out of that particular run.
Okay, you can go back to your normal program now that is out of my system. Thanks for listening.
Well, always keep in mind not to give the faction traders too much advantage. Universe would not run without the unseen haulers that balance on the law-crime line.
While I like the escort idea, I believe that simple income bonus would be better, or some sort of reward for the action. Like have Rheinland Military order stuff for themselves, RepEx supplies the stuff, they get guns, ships or something. If you catch my drift. RP Rp RP.
making traders 90% invulnerable to damage makes them near unkillable, if you take in mind that bombers are pirate weapon, a VHF can evade them long enough for transport to even thrust to the target location. Promote RP, not the money grind.
' Wrote:Now here's the kicker. Make these buffed transports for corporations only. The corps are the ones with the money to beef up their ships. This way the smugglers will still have to stay out of sight to survive, and the pirates will still have to work together as well. Otherwise, you'll just have pirates in these new beefed up transports attacking the beefed up transports.
Agreed. Its already hard enough to stop some smugglers.....

However, considering which factions have the biggest problems it's rather obvious that the lack of mining harms a trading faction right now. In case of the two keiretsu up in Kusari it's the fact that other factions have an advantage in selling/mining the same ores we can mine. We are basically waiting for .86 to get our share of new recruits.
But yeah, having something to make it worth joining the official factions would be even better. (Yeah, I know, indy rights movement. Yet they could take slightly less profits for not having the balls to fly around with a flashing tag)

Sounds cool, I think the idea is a good move for the traders and escorts. I find many times even having two escorts vs a pirate bomber they just fly in circles like crazy then hit you with SNAC or the dreaded Nova torpedo again and again. Doesnt take long at all to die. This makes pirates have to work together more as well.
The only problem I see is that its not easy to get everyone together. Some people just cant get escorts. Another problem I see is gunboats with 800 million credits worth of armor. Does that even make any sense? Off topic?..yes
One thing many (many, not all) trading factions lack of is a stable escort/trader structure. You escort idea Cannon is quite decent. I would join up to soem of these factions like Bowex if I could do something other than trading e.g escorting without feeling...unproductive?
I liked the idea of escorts getting payed automatically.
- when trader with escort sells his cargo he gets the same profit as otherwise but his escorts gets also some money "for free"
Could be done with a plugin that detects if the escort (grouped) is within 5k from the station that the trader is selling cargo on.
I'm aware that you can abuse this by the escort not flying around with the transport at all and just waiting at the end destination and group up with them. But then again that's their own choice, the profit gained won't be more than using 2 transports to trade together.
Igiss says: Martin, you give them a finger, they bite off your arm.
Why not have it so when an escort joins a trader the escort has a bit more damage like 15-20% that way the pirate has more to think of then just pew the trader if he runs.
