Err.. I wasn't saying Freelancer was real. I was pointing out that the "Just a game" principle is inconsistently applied. You don't have to be sorry for stating your opinion.

Ohh yea your right about my opinion :$:$. All what I wanted to say is that in real life are many battleships around . And I gave few links to some of the battleships.
OMGWTF. (Yes, that will be one of the few times you will see caps out of me purposely.)
With factions as "powerful" as they are ("we're a faction"-"we're more organised"-"we can walk over you"-etc) do they really need a big ship that will pwn everything? (Coincidentally, it might even destroy a Corsair spy {which just may be an indy of the outcast faction})
Having said that,

To be honest Capships such as cruisers and above should be in a different class to Bombers, they should really beable to shrug off 1-2 bombers without a problem, it might not beable to kill them effectivley but it shouldn't be a threat to the existence of the ship. Look at any Sci fi that has battles between smaller ships and large ships. Majority of the time the smaller ships fight eachother out and they provide an advantage to the side that has the superiority over the smaller ship battle, it shouldn't be the major factor. To take out an enemy cruiser or battleship, other ships of equal size should be deployed to combat them, as opposed to a bunch of bombers.
Bombers and gunboats to a greater degree should provide an effect to the battle, Cap ship vs Cap ship, a few bombers or gunboats would probably asure victory against a solo cap ship, however in a full scale battle the smaller ships should really be focusing on eachother first rather than trying to hit the capship.
It can happen to a lesser extent, I was in a sort of fleet with the Navy when we took on a bunch of Rogues in Liberty space, if one on each side was a cruiser, that leaves a gunboat or two and a few fighters on each side, not ideal for large sizes but if something like that was conjured up with a small amount of time, that size or maybe even larger ship battles of like 6+ a side would work out, aslong as there was only one capship per side
Well i suppose the caps should be left alone as they are. No "special" Flagships.
Its mostly about RP, not about combat balance.
offtopic: i would love to see those gunboats get higher-projectile-speed-guns. I mean... THEY ARE GUNBOATS.
Bonbers should be able to fight off Cruisers and Battleships but gunboats should also be able to fight any fighter class ships with ease. I hope THAT will happen or they fix the buggy and inefficient Missiles.
I think perhaps that all capital ship guns should be made refire 1, maybe some with refire 2 tops. They should have a slower speed but do a huge amount of damage. On top of this, their shields and armour should be boosted massively.
So, then you have capital ships that really are not much threat to fighters/bombers who can whiz around them and fighters/bombers will largely not be a threat to capital ships. Bombers will still be able to smack down capital ships with 5-6 of them, and capital ships MAY be able to kill bombers (or even fighters) IF they are lucky and the pilots are really crap and don't really dodge.
That way you'll remove people's "need" to PvP whore anything smaller than destroyers or even gunboats in capital ships because they'll be too difficult to hit. Conversly, capital ships will be able to ignore/shrug off all but the largest formations of bombers. Then you end up with good, tough capital ships for extended capital to capital battles and RP, a use for fighters (keeping those bomber formations off the caps), a use for bombers (in reasonable numbers instead of 1-2), and less people whoring capital ships except to fight other capital ships, simply because they can't do anything in them except really fight other capital ships.
Obviously it'd all need to be ironed out and stuff, but I think that might work.
Aye, I agree, it should be balanced out so that 4+ bombers can kill a battleship, but it takes a looong time, long enough that, if the battleship has proper fighter escorts, they can pick off the bombers, who need their own escorts to keep the anti-bomber fighters from doing their work.

You've missed the whole idea of the thread. The idea here is to have 1 special flagship per faction. There would still be the normal ships, but on top of that, there would be a super-flagship. Nobody is saying all battleships should be removed, and replaced with only 1 flagship.
