Why do (or don't) you fly a Zoner? Serious question.

Mind that I am not saying I don't. 4 out 5 of my corsair ships are docked there. I am saying that most likely that Bretonia tolerate the Freeport since the harm it brings them is smaller than the benefit.

I mean, inRP you don't have hostile battleships that are "docked" on the freeport. You don't even have a cruiser or a gunboat. You might have a few pirate snubs docked in there from the various factions that stage attacks. Tolerable enough to have the place running with its neutrality, that benefit you as well.

I mean, where would, for example, Bretonian intelligence agents and Rheinland's ones meet? A Neutral place. Where would they meet with Mollys, during the Bret-Kusari war? A Freeport.

Freeports are also placed out of houses, which is very convenient for the houses themselves. They serve as part of the border.

I think all your discussions are somewhat productive but can never come to an understanding because the development of the discovery mod was chaotic and with little regard to RP logic.

The gap that needs to be filled in the zonnie lore is just as wide as any other none-millitary, or rather "house" factions, but its easy to point at one faction like an oil slick and start bashing it. On the same token, how can liberty afford so many wars? Or how is it that The Order is still alive? Or, how can the Germans spawn tens of carriers when according to the rp events, they should have none to a nax of 2. Now just to level up, these are kinds of scenarios that illustrate gaps, real numbers, and bad decisions from the devs from old times. Having said all this, because everyone here are ignoramuses I doubt this will make sense, the Zoner bashings will continue regardless.

My point a few pages back was pure and simple. Zoners are and have stemmed from a disorganised bunch of people not wanting to be under house influence. It is in their RP not to be able to do it all since they are confined to themselves and impose that upon themselves willingly. Yet they've got enough real estate to rival most official houses, their own range of caps and technology and seem to assume 'independence' wherever they go.

So tell me. How come they were able to rise to a position as strong as that in two decades that took all four houses 800 years to do so?

It's simply down to individual and influential community members tailoring the faction into their own mod experiment.

A long time ago, when I first went past the noob session that we all have had starting here, I took time to look into options for starting my first online RP character, which now a good portion of the server knows as Brettonias the First.

Zoners to me at the time, were the best option to look into for the final foundation of supporting my characters from start to now, and looking back, I wouldn't have changed it one bit. Sure I went from Junker to Freelancer to Zoner, but that was with the coming of time and the development of my RP. Not the ships, stations, or other things that people would complain about zoners having and whatnot led me to use the zoner way, but because it was the most flexible of all other possibilities on the server to work from.

And no offense being a zoner is better than any much RP most get from the New York Roleplay Black Hole.

The flexibility of a Zoner character is one that like previously said, is something other factions dont really have, and it gives other players, new and old, a different look at Sirius than most.

Not remotely as strong. But when nobody is making your capitals explode, you get to keep them. Let's say that there are 10 zoner capital ships around inrp. Let's say that there are 100 liberty capships around inrp. But, while the zoners only ever produced 10 and managed to keep them due to the neutrality, liberty had probably produced hundreds more, losing many in the various conflicts such as the rheinland liberty war, others dealing with the random ranseur that decided to pop in NY. So historically, liberty might have had 500 capships, just that 400 of them exploded during conflicts which boring peaceful inrp zoner capital ships rarely (supposed to) have, therefore zoners aren't nearly possibly to the level of any house military, and rightly so.

On the topic of why zoner's supposed colony ships are more powerful than house battleships, but when you think about it, the house capship thing is pretty much an industry, and militaries not only have to produce the most devastating warships, they also have to produce them as efficiently as possible and sometimes that means cutting down on the raw firepower or survivability (which would be made up for by the much superior military training) in order to drastically lower the cost of their warships. Meanwhile, Zoner capitals weren't built to take part in a military conflict, but rather to survive, and therefore more resources might have been spared for each capital, because firepower is a diplomacy that all lesser armed threats would respect. At the same time, the houses know that Zoners aren't a threat because they simply do not have the training nor the industry to attack the houses, so suppose the aforementioned 10 zoner capships banded together to attack liberty, liberty would respond with their own 100 capships, and instantly crank out 50 more because they have such efficient warship factories, and ultimately due to liberty navy's military training they may not even lose a single warship in the hypothetical zoner invasion.

As a zoner trader a while back, I have encountered both pirates that accepted zoner neutrality and allowed zoners (and junkers) to pass freely, as well as pirates who gave supposed discounts to zoners, as well as pirates who didn't give a crap who you were. Personally I have never complained much about it, because neutrality isn't the same as being allied, and doesn't exempt anyone from piracy. However, it seems that people who hate zoner players hate them because they whine when they get pirated, but why can't they whine? They're getting pirated, whining is a pretty reasonable reaction! And if these whining zoners report you on the forums, has any of them actually successfully caused a sanction? If so, then you probably did more than breach Zoner neutrality.
