:::Shawn smiles, ties his apron back on and walks over to see what Lord Methos wants:::

What be yer pleasure Lord Methos, fer ye and yer lovely lass? Skye said to provide what e're ye want in the way of food and drink and no holds barred. And I thank ye very much for your nice comment.

:::Shawn blushes again and waits to see if Lord Methos wants to order anything:::

:::Marley walks back onto the stage, point towards Shawn, and claps again...then goes to mic and says:::

It be me great pleasure to welcome Skyedaughter Firelight to the stage to read.

:::Marley bows to the crowd and backs off the stage, through the curtain, clapping:::

:::The crowd watches expectantly, then not seeing Skye immediately appear on the stage, begins to look around and shuffle in their chairs:::

:::Someone in the back rings a bell, which has a delicate and sweet tone, and all heads turn to the back of the room:::

:::Lettie elbows Merry and says, "Well ye can't say our Skye doesn't have a flare for the dramatic:::

:::Skye stands up, still somewhat invisible due to the cape and then lets the cape drop. All the crystals reflect the light of the many candles throughout the room and Skye smiles gladly, opening her arms as if to embrace everyone in the room:::

:::Marley, suddenly beside Skye and making many a lad jealous, takes her arm to help her to the stage:::

:::As they make their way through the room, Skye squeezes a hand here, gives a kiss on the cheek there, welcomes a newcomer, til all feel they are part of "Skye's family.":::

:::Marley assists Skye up the stage stairs and then leaves:::

:::Skye steps up to mic, smiling and sparkling:::

In the words of Stevie Nicks, one of my favorite Old Earth singer/songwriters,
"welcome, everybody." I'm that glad to see so many friends and new folks too.
:::blows a kiss::: that's fer me special Lord Methos, Bernard, an' Sancho

My hope for tonight is that all will be friends by the end of this eve. This poem be a nod to Old Earth and to one its most ancient spiritual systems of understanding, shamanism. What is of great interest to me is that, on many worlds that have been explored and settled, similar belief systems and practices be found, an I be a practitioner meself. It is called The Drumming Dawn.

I fear not
the primitive drumming,
desires beat upon the walls,
and the caves echoes pounding,
the shamans feat

lines traced
upon the stones damp,
picture the flesh,
the bone trembles,
this hallowed rock, a cradle

holds the sweat and tears,
brooded upon, and
the blood and the water merge;
the tide is high, rising, and
there is no exit

enter, if you will,
but only by faith
and blind, daring the way
by touch or smell,
alone, but not lonely

the earth trembles,
the mountain throbs
this cave to waking,
and the sky explodes
into dawn

:::Skye steps back and lowers her head; the room is quiet, and then hearty clapping breaks out everywhere:::

:::Skye steps up to the mic:::

An' I thank ye all fer that wonderful response. Ye know ye got me eyes leakin', as Lettie likes to call it. :::smiles down at Lettie:::

Now I'd like to introduce the band that needs no introduction, my favorite band in the multiverse, the Silver Zeppelin. And once ye all are finished w' yer eatin', I hope yee'll all take to the floor and dance the night away.

:::Skye backs through the curtain, clapping:::

:::the poetry mic sinks into the floor, the forward stage slides under the back stage as the curtain opens, revealing the fully set up band:::

:::Lead singer Bobby Plantain steps up to his mic:::

Ah, thank ye Skye fer that wonderful intro, and what a great crowd has come to visit Hope's Haven tonight. Now we'd like to start with a cover from our namesake, Led Zeppelin, called "Stairway to Heaven."

:::The song begins with a delicate riff from the lead guitar, and then the band takes off:::

Bernard comes down the stairs and heads to the bar... speaks:

'Good morning sunshine girl!
A drink of color black
to start...

The new day...

To cast away the shadows
of a sleep in a perfect bed...'

Pauses as the girl behind the bar is giving him an odd look... continues:

'No worries beautifull lass, it's just a peculiar way to say 'thanx' to Skye and all of you
here under this roof' he says with a smile 'I just need some of that black magical potion
to start the day.'

If the stars should appear one night in a thousand years, how would men believe and adore and preserve for many generations the remembrance of the city of God? - from 'Nightfall' by I. Asimov
The Outcasts consider Siniestre Nube a sacred place for several reasons. Early explorers discovered a jumphole within the depths of the cloud that leads to a strange world of ringed stars and strange craft. All ships in the burrial ground are placed facing that hole to honor the Alien Spirits. - An Outcast rumor

Skye my Dear, missed another crack I see. Was an important family gathering that
kept me from these hallowed halls once more ...

To Jayne and Ian.

A family time together
A repeat of old times
gone forever
A weekend of reminiscing
The happy past
and to renew their vows
Though they were never missing.

Bless everything but the bleddy weather ... That was sh*te.

Top of the world Ma

Pass the Bushmills will you ... Leave the bottle please. The balance is slightly out of sync
in the world here. I will have to do my job once more. The sanity is taking over ...
Add a hotdog to me order, hold the bun ... Pound of those best Golden Delicious to go ...
A kiss on the cheek for the hostess.
