Don't try and pirate in front of lawful stations/battleships, don't shadow log and then have the same lines to pirate and then log out right away, do develop an interesting interaction based on the faction you are flying as. Actually listen when other players are giving you feedback other than ignoring them and then complaining because you're feelings got hurt when somebody didn't gib money. This might shock you, but this is a roleplay server, not a PVP server.
This literally never happens.
Pirates log in, tax you and log out in under 3 minutes.
They wait for you to get to the next system and do it again with another ship.
They spam exactly the same lines probably from a "setmessage" command and it's done purely to cash in or troll another player.
I've had one RP based encounter with whoever it was on their Rogue Destroyer in lolberty. - Never saw them again.
Birdie is actually the best pirate - that brings the rest of the community to shame. After he's taken 10M off you, he then entertains you by taking Liberty forces head on solo with no regens, wins too.
Best recent experience I had was a Lane Hacker. Caught me just entering NY from Pennsy. My character was a stuttering, scared wreck. I ended up yelling (after a few failed attempts) pro-Lane Hacker propoganda in system chat. I was eventually released and the ship was mysteriously, digitally controlled and planet dove into the planet while my character screamed in horror with no control over the ship. The pirate and I fed off of each other very well and I'd like to imagine he was smiling as much as I was on his side of the screen.
It ain't about what you are capable of, it's about what you're willing to do.

Perfect example of the fact that a Pirate can only really provide as much RP as the trader reciprocates in. It appears to me that the vast majority of Traders don't desire to do this and get themselves killed as a result.
Of course, there's plenty of "10mil or die" Pirates out there, but we're not all like that. Some of us actually enjoy a good interaction, a bit of back and forth. I personally prefer Cargo Piracy specifically, rather than just trying to get cash. It's even better for clocking activity (If my Pirate faction cared at all for officialdom), since we'd have to gain the cargo from Piracy and then go find somewhere to sell it (which we do).
Traders complain that Pirates are unreasonable trash, yet, if Traders offer little interaction of worth in return these players won't consider it worth their time even trying to RP with you. Not gunna lie, I for a long time gave up on trying to have any meaningful interaction with Traders all together because of a series of rubbish encounters with them.
It's a two-way street. We've both gotta uphold our sides of the deal, collectively we could raise the bar.
There will always be PvP-centric Pirates however, that'll never go away sadly, it just has to be put up with.
When contending with a monster, you'd be wise to give the devil his due.
my pirate RP is directly proportional on how much the trader wants to RP. they say "how much" and they'll get a "10 mil or die".
"shadowlogging" is the only viable way of piracy. traders (not all of them) will immediately dock in the sight of a pirate or F1 in space. sit on a lane/jumpgate and traders will take the long way around you or lawfuls will swarm you in no time.

Same here. For every trader complaining about seeing minimal RP from pirates, I see about 5 traders doing the bare minimum while constantly slamming the dock key on the disrupted tradelane, or getting their /gct ready to get out of the situation.

Same, "How much" people get 10mil and/or a very high chance to get blue'd ASAP if they refuse.
People who will at least give me a couple general lines get 5 mil or so.
People who actually banter back at me for a bit get 2-3mil.
I dont need the money, just the RP, but Im gonna get my fee one method or another. And I've found that the majority of pirates (at least outside Kusari space) follow a very similar method. 7 times out of 10 as a trader If I give non-generic RP at least mentioning the specific faction looting me the fees get lower.
Kusari pirates I've noticed though do it in reverse where they will tell traders "Lets make this quick, 10m and you can leave." and thats the only RP they'll give. Its the main reason I dont trade in Kusari space if I can help it.

Good pirates inRP would only be interested in the fastest and easiest, least risky extortions. People whining about short RP doesn't understand what good roleplay is. You just want long verbal roleplay that you prefer.
