' Wrote:You know . . . I read a chunk of this thread, not all of it, and it seems to me that quite a bit of esteemed members of this community are concerned of new players behaving OORP . . .

We like to complain about "LOLwutters" or whatever you want to call them, but the fact of the matter is this . .

We complain, but what do we do about it? ? ?
One person posted in this thread about the need here for server police. . . (players who have semi-admin powers to regulate the game) . . .

Well, I say this. Why? when every member of this community already has this power? Many here has the power of knowledge, forgiveness, patience, communication . . . This is what all admins do to any player here or anywhere else to a player that needs some guidance . . .

All I ask for you is to take the time to talk to the new players here . . And not in a "high and mighty state of authority", pull to the side and tell them what you feel they need to do in a respectable manner . . .

AND, That also goes for members on the forums too . . we may have a new member that is ecstatic of this community, and want to contribute. . . He may ask a thousand questions, thread by thread, and many of us may get annoyed; but we all need to have patience with them and be polite when discussing your concerns . .

The old "Gentleman's" rules from long ago . . . were not written in stone, were not posted in the rules forum . . it was told and shared from one player to another . . Remember those days and share that philosophy with the newer players . . I feel that it will make this a better place . . .

Admins, I luvs you.

My free signiture thread is a tiny bit similar to adminship, people come in, yell at you to do something, then when you do that they want the whole thing done over again... My eyes have already turned bright purple*, due to the strain, and I can't imagine what doing 10 sanctions a day with contradicting evidence, and actual real life would be like... Do you still have hair?

*May or may not have been done with magic markers

~On topic~
I really think there should be more incentives to join official faction, or some reason new people would want to join them. The official factions act like wetlands, they stop hurricanes (masslolwhutgattherings) from forming, and de toxify polluted water (Newbies who don't know how to roleplay). However, from a new person's view, OF's have many more restrictions and few benifits. Anything we can change about that?

Come on! Be free!

Well said Ron:cool:

Y'know, one good experience on the server can erase a dozen bad ones.

When I was new, I was running alot of pot from Islay to planet Harris, & occasionally I'd get blown to smithereens for ignoring the RP that was being attempted towards me.

I didn't grasp the whole rep thing & figured that if I could land on a place, it was cool to do so...& always got pissed when some guy would fly up talking like a cop & getting in my way.

I specifically remember berating one guy for it & in essence told him to drag his overly geeky a** back to his mothers basement, throw away his Gandalf robes & try harder to get a life.

...The dude never broke character

I ran into him the next day on the way to Harris & said more mean & nasty things

...The dude never broke character

I ran into him a couple days later & did the same thing again

...The dude STILL never broke character, but this time, he mentioned basically that I am a wanted man & that the others in his faction have orders to kill me on sight.

That got my attention long enough to shut me up & wonder what the hell these sewing circle geeks were saying about me, & that is how I finally found my way to the forums.

It took a while, but things like rules, reps & RP finally started to sink in.

Anyway, being the primary system I spend most of my time in when I'm actually on the server, for the record, it bugs the snot out of me to hear about lolwuting in Edinburgh, but it ain't the end of the world. Just don't ever break character around 'em & you may actually get through to one of 'em

Also Teny, I really do think it's funny in this case that even though you have a history of railing on the admins when they do something you don't like, you're also very quick to run straight to them when someone else does something you don't like.

about 95% of everything that happens on this server can be handled without any admin intervention whatsoever.

Although it's good to have plenty of people around, I find it kinda wrong, that usually some 4/5ths of the server activity (average) are tagless. 1/5th wear -some- facton tag. Be it old, one-man-group, unofficials...anything.

And it's pissing me -most- that because there's so many of them I can't log on when I need to.

Password the server? Issue force-login passwords to faction members? Dunno.

Because I'm terribly sorry, but I don't think even mass-sanctios can do anything about the problem. Too slow, too many.

Marburg, if you'd like I'll send you the screens of each member present, and their cargo loads. Every one of them was carrying gaian wildlife, I'm sure you'll enjoy the target practice.

(Edit: too big to post the screen on board)

engaging without notification, shooting on planet Kyushu, talking about "npc" trader on system chat even without // ...

Many people were there and heard it. Isn't that just sad? No, it's stupid...
