But that's if the Cruisers are lonely, with no escort.
They should have a fighter escort, not going solo around.

I have noticed this thread and thought about it quite abit. As a pirate I have flown, the Rogue/Outcast/Warren/Red Hessian/Blood Dragon bombers, and several other bombers in a freelancer char, and I did put several hours into each ship. I currently now own zero bombers, and won't buy another one. For me they are all pretty much bricks, unless you got someone with you, chances are you are gonna get smoked. What I was thinking about, was a suggestion to keep the torpedo mounts as they are (2 ea) , but reduce the max level of guns it can carry. Most can carry 4 level 10 guns + a turret or 2, what I propose is to lower that to class 5/6 guns lose and the turrets. And to compensate, increase the manueverability to that of the average VHF. With that level of guns, you won't do much damage versus the average player, but you can do what the ship was intended to do use your heavy weopons (aka torpedos/ minis/ novas) versus capitol ships and have some manueverability to avoid some of the heavy fire. Maybe some of the topguns here can do more with them, but I have talked with several ppl here some I know personally some I dont, and most feel the same way. I see it coming already, from the other side OMG bombers that turn like fighters...This is just a suggestion for future revisions, but I think there could be some give and take in this area. I see the SA/LSF flying bombers, but they usually have others with them in fighters or other ships. Other than this dont see very many around, and I do think what I said above may have something to do with it. For me I will fly my fighter or gunboat for the time being.

The thing I find funny is the fact that the bomber nerf was supposed to make them useless against fighters, well their actually useless against caps alone. The nova torp for one is an excellent anti-fighter/bomber weapon, and it's still not too hard to hit a fighter with a nova, the fact that it's a one shot deal makes absolutely no difference.

A good bomber pilot can dodge and is patient, so the time it takes for them to get a nova hit may have been increased, but it's still as likely as ever, the only thing that did happen was that bombers were handicapped against capital ships. I never liked the idea of a nerf that made them completely useless against fighters anyways, Not that they should be able to kill one easily, but bringing a bomber shouldn't automatically mean you're screwed when a fighter comes.

Not everyone can fire a nova at a fighter and hit, it's a skill, skills shouldn't be taken away with nerfs and deleting when some gets too good with a particular weapon. The only nerf I can think of currently that I agree with is the Raven's Talon nerf. I still own one, but many people have dropped theirs.

It just seems when things become difficult for someone to overcome they run to the balance thread instead of doing something most of us like to call "practice" I didn't magically learn how to dodge a nova one day. I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it now, but I still get caught by the occasional nova, but I think it's silly to accuse them of cheating or suddenly believe it's unbalanced.

Yeah... Well the Nova thing... If you get hit by a slow torpedo you deserve get hit...

Lone bombers do suck kinda, but if something requires teamplay for good use, I don't see how that is bad in anyway...

After that little double bomber incident, I never engage without fighter suport...

@Rogue63 - Bombers are ok now, i believe. If you do such thing as you suggested, then 2 bombers could make a massacre on capital ships, ignoring fighters totally.
Because, fighters can't hit them.
So, i think it's pretty much okay.
I'v even seen a guy doing some weird stuff in a Barghest, and it is a brick :/
You just need to know how to fly it.

@Razr - It is nerfed against fighters as well. You could have fired a nova before in each out of 4-5 passes in a row.
Now you can only once, and then wait for 6-8 seconds for another.
Yes, they are nerfed against capital ships as well (some of them, at least), because you can't afford to miss.
And i'm saying this for gunboats that are very hard to hit, like IMG GB, or Rogue GB.
Some Bombers can even serve as a multipurpose. Like Catamaran, Red Catamaran and BHG bomber.
They are all agile with 5 guns, it's not a problem to beat a fighter in it, and w/o a Supernova.
And they are still bombers, so they can easily fight against capital ships.

My opinion is that no need for further balancing is needed.
Yes, it is possible to kill a fighter with Supernova, but only if he's not careful.
