Hasn't disco moved away from Nomads being a major plot element (like in Vanilla freelancer) towards focusing more on inter-house politics?
I wouldn't mind seeing more nomads (which open use nomnom stuff would lead to), but it would change the nature of Disco entirely, moving it more towards ol' Vanilla freelancer.
I mean what would happen to Gallia threatening the existance/indepence of Sirius, if nomnoms started to show up in great quantities? It would change the plot entirely and effectively put a lid on the Gallic invasion.
The whole Gallia idea was a mistake to begin with imho, and turned many things into worse. I support the idea of Noms being around as the main threat as I always did. Gallia is another reason the game pushes me and players like me out of the interest chamber.

Since when, exactly?
Quote:Since it's inception, The Order had been based on Planet Toledo in the Omicron Minor system. During the Battle of Omicron Minor in the Nomad War this base was severely damaged by bombardment from a Nomad fleet. It was later rebuilt as a more permanent base of operations for The Order, rather than just being an outpost on the edge of space. It was a fully-fledged center of operations for The Order itself. Unfortunatly, in 818 AS, Planet Toledo was destoyed by the Nomads.
Quote:In 818 AS, the Nomads launched a full scale invasion while The Order were under attack by Guild Core forces. Their objective was, it seems, the destruction of The Order. Against all odds, they fought with bravery the invaders. During the Battle, Nomad bombardments overwhelmed the Isis and destroyed ground-based attack batteries. The strikes were directed at fault lines along the planet's surface. The bombardment destroyed the thin crust at those lines, letting the latent magma flow through multiple places. The process was repeated all along the planet, and became mostly covered by lava flows. It would appear the Order had neither enough time nor the resources to stage an evacuation. So it is believed that most of the population died in the underground bunkers, either due to the bombardments or the lava flows that followed. It is estimated that close to one million people have died.
So.. actually... you fail. And this has been addressed during the time of writing this post.
Now, to address Uncle Carl.
For the final time, we are not looking for a terrorist ID. We are looking for greater roleplay between factions and the Nomads.
Throughout the entire thread, we have made sure to promote the fact that we are NOT attempting to undermine or otherwise offend members of K'hara. We have maintained this, as well as a relatively respectful demeamour.
Remember that quote Christians use? 'Take out the plank of wood in your eye before pointing out the speck in others'. We understand we aren't the be-all and end-all.
I ask you to do the same. What gives you the right to act so, accusing us of 'cockiness' and 'arrogance' and all that entails, when we aren't doing the same? We could accuse you of the same, and it wouldn't get anybody anywhere. Just because you dislike the fact that we have a different view to you, does not give you the right to try and impose.
As an older, experienced man, surely you must respect that? If not, then just as you discounted gamers who don't believe in RP, we'll discount your credibility. Its the harsh truth.
Now, if we can all be nice, eh? This thread was not intended to be insulting or otherwise detrimental to the K'hara.
So now tell me, why these rules cannot be debated? We only wish to improve the situation.
The community clearly agrees on many aspects, so a change of some description is inevitable. Surely you want to have some control over that change?
You said we should work with you or 'STFU'. Sit on your ego and invite us to work with you, instead of being so disrespectful.
You don't know it all, and neither do we, but if we work together, we can get somewhere. So lets play nice, respect each other and stop getting personal.
Something needs to happen, and we're willing to do what we can to help you out, if you can accept that.

I might agree with you on that (even though I love Gallia and its lore, it doesn't really fit in that well with the rest of Sirius - and defintely doesn't fit Vanilla Freelancer / the nomnom threat). However we can't change that, it's all in the hands of our lords (the devs).
So to expand on the nomad threat, even though it might be really cool in itself, would endanger the general direction Disco is going in - it would be too messed up with Gallics and nomads all over the place. IMO it's either/or - either Gallia is the plot's major threat/"bad guy" or the Nomads are. Can't have both without changing the overarching plot significantly (would Gallia really be that hellbent on conquering Sirius without mercy if it would put Gallia in a situation where it could be overrun by aliens?), which is totally out of the hands of us players.
I think the point missed is that the nomad id IS a terrorist id. And since those will never be freely available, that pretty well trumps all player argument and discussion. Not to say that it's tough now to get into the nomad faction, but that there is a level of responsibility that comes with the freedom the id grants.
See, the whole thrust is that YOU want the toy without going through the simple procedure to get it, but that then opens it up to all - including those who have no idea how to RP as a nomad. The trial id is out there for a reason -so the lolwuts that want it can have it and then if they prove themselves worthy, they can EARN the faction id.
If not, they can still play, they just don't get all the good toys. Like the Marduk.
