That's exactly what they did. They left the houses. As such their warships are zoner warships and not house warships. No house allows foreign warships into their space, that includes zoner warships that are not part of the house military.
You can have a zoner warship and fly around, but when you come up next to house space you have to be prepared to deal with the house government.
That is all role-play ^^
Anyway, hope you find a game that matches your desire better. Let us know if you come back for another try.

I know how to roleplay i've done it for years.
But you all have fun with your game.
It amazes me that in the world of ROLE PLAY we can't be a zoner and have our own thing.
Did anyone think that perhaps a group of zoners where unhappy with their current gov't and decided to break off?
But I guess that doesn't fit the collective.
It's cool.
Im cancelling my accounts right now.
Good luck
By lore, which is what our role are based on, Zoners are neutral to the majority of groups in Sirius. If you do not want to roleplay as someone who is neutral to the majority of groups in Sirius, choose another role. There are many different factions that you don't need to be neutral and diplomatic with. Instead of leaving, consider trying out another faction, because it doesn't seem like the role of a Zoner is what you want to play as, which is fine.

If you "have your own thing" you're not a Zoner.
If you broke off, you're not a Zoner.
Thus, you shouldn't be using the Zoner ID.
Your "roleplay" of "WE SEPARATED FROM THE MAIN GROUP, SO WE GET TO USE ALL THEIR STUFF BUT DO WHATEVER WE WANT" isn't exactly unique.
Plus, why should the houses allow your cruisers/battleships into their house? If you want permission to enter the houses, your little group needs to conduct diplomacy BEFOREHAND.

You say you've been roleplaying for years.
Okay, I'll take you at your word for that.
Now, let's fit this into perspective, with the granddaddy of role playing games, Dungeons and Dragons. Or maybe even 1st edition AD&D rules. Doesn't matter, because here's the thing.
When you join Discovery, and you 'roll up' your new characters to join us, you're starting in as new players in an already existing and ongoing campaign. This isn't just World of Warcraft, where you do ... zerg rushes, or whatever the hell it is that people do when they play WoW (never touched it myself).
This is an immersive game where players really get into the depth of their characters - and many of us, especially those of us who've been here for a long time, have a LOT of characters. Which means a couple of things - we know both the rules of the server (yes, you can have your caps and go where you want to according to the rules of the server) and the rules of the campaign - aka the house rules - which means that while it's perfectly fine under server rules to take that Zoner cap into New York, the actual campaign rules / laws of Liberty mean that the Navy will be vaporizing your butt for doing so.
Thus, just because you can do something under server rules as a player does NOT mean that there may not be in game role-play consequences for your CHARACTER should you do so. That's why we have, in the communications section, all of the relevant house laws. Phrasing it another way - if you roll up a Paladin, there are consequences for your character if you start ripping the hearts out of innocents for no reason, even though the game mechanics let you do that.
I know Tanker has been watching things here. One thing that can be done by the actual server admins is that the chat and action logs can be checked to see what was recorded when your friend went poof. That way they can see if it was someone impersonating an Admin (someone using their name) or if simply your friend was actually destroyed by NPC's, and due to a well server glitch (again, among those of us who've been here for years) it's possible that the death message was corrupted. He can ask the admins to check that for you.
Now, having said all of the above and being nice about it - because you'll note that so far (with about one notable exception) every single person has been nice to you here on the forums regarding this issue because guess what? We want people to play here. Attitudes of 'hey, you all suck because something crappy happened and I don't understand it, and I'm not going to listen to ANYONE because I don't need to do so', though, can be checked at the door. We WANT to help you - we want to help you enjoy the game - ALL of the aspects of this game, including the shooting.
Oh, and someone tells me to get my Zoner Jinkusu out of Omega-3 - nope, not happening, I've decided that she's part of the Freeport 1 defense / neutrality patrol. Not violating server rules by being there - but if I irritate the Bretonians in game - so be it. Freeport 1 still is a Zoner base. Now, if I flew it into Cambridge, then the Bret's would be justified to shoot me. Again, bring it on - but it's NOT in Zoner RP to irritate house governments (or the BHG - because the BHG LIKES shooting Zoners... but I digress) because Zoners don't want to be part of house governments - they just want to be left alone.
