Im playing disc for more than two years and have plenty of charecter in both factions. I also took part in raid several times. At first it was fun but later it was waste of time. What i get from here is the problem is not much raiding but camping 4-5 bs next to the planet and killing who ever come out is a big problem. For this i think support fire like isis is enough. And if gamma and alpha needs to be less attacked then follow the scra system and a lots of gunbot-bomber patrol with suppress mild attack or at least buy some time.

The bit about the gunboat+bomber patrols reminded me of something. There are actually patrols of four Osirises in Omicron Gamma (or maybe they only appear in missions). We need more of these appearing in Omicron Gamma to deter massive, endless raids. A raid is meant to be something like this: Go in, cause some damage and mayhem, and get out.
The problem with raids right now is that after the attacking side wins, they start camping in hostile space. A raid should not be about camping. As I said before, it's about getting in, causing some quick, lightning-fast damage, and then getting out, especially when defenses begin to mobilize. Raids aren't really meant to be fought to the death. Either you win by surprising your targets and get out or you lose because you're outnumbered and you flee. Very few people actually follow this principle anymore.
Anyway, to deter camping after raids, base defenses need to be beefed up. Theoretically, capital ships shouldn't be able to get close to bases. Just look at this Outcast rumor: http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/3092/rumorv.jpg. Capital ship NPCs should also be more common...that is, if we don't do away with NPCs completely. If this happens, then it's vital that base defenses be significantly increased.
