I wonder if the Sol nomads were banned for not giving an engagement notice and pvpwhoring.

Nah seriously they never existed in Sol system... Maybe.. And atleast its not destroyed. There's no proof.

I love all the people that are denying the extended intro as canon RP.

It is for discovery, so as long as you're playing here, that's the Lore you have to go by.

The keepers explained it quite a bit in the nomad lore document - the daam k'vosh created several different species of "nomads". The ones you see in sirius are a younger, less evolved group. The ones that attacked sol were more advanced and more aggressive, from a different area of space.

I still think a Sol System will be more needed in-RP than 70% of the Gallic systems and 90% of the guard ones.

Sol...Tricky one...Of course. It'd have to be extensivly RP'd by all interested parties before hand and given that those parties would..Most likley be hostile to one another in some shape or form I really don't see it working long term.

Not necessarilly.

It's not the nomads that were different, although they probably were 2 separate groups.

Its the humans that were different, or rather, who were in different circumstances.

The Sol humans knew nothing about the DKV or the Nomads before they got attacked.

THe humans in Sirius did (at least about the DKV, and probably also about the nomads through the warning mentioned), and were able to uncover the nomads before they grew strong enough to become as dangerous as they were to humans in Sol.

In a nutshell, the Sirius humans had the working tinker toy, the DKV scriptures, the DKV tech they found (which they used to build jumpgates, tradelanes, and a cloaked Osiris), the xeno-archeologists, and the Order. Oh and they had Super-Trent. The Sol humans had none of that.

Also the humans in Sirius were all over the Sector and had much more advanced technology than those in Sol (partly because of the DKV stuff they found in Sirius), and were not constrained to one system like in Sol. So a sinlge suncrusher wouldnt have done the trick like in Sol.

My theory is that the nomads used exactly the same tactic in Sol as they tried to use in Sirius:

They infested the leadership of the coaltion and the alliance, and got them fighting in centuries of war so that humans were destroying each other rather than expanding and getting stronger. Meanwhile, Nomads had all the time they wanted (centuries) to build and charge up the suncrusher. Then, when it was ready, the infested leadership launched the final offensive to bring the maximum of destruction. When the offensive was over, the nomads fired the suncrusher to "mop up the rest".

Exact same nomad tactics in both sectors, except that they failed the second time. When the nomads became aware of the humans in Sirius, they tried to do the same. They started the wars, and started building up ships to destroy the rest of the humans later. They probably also tried to make contact with other nomads throughout the galaxies to get a couple of suncrushers to Sirius (through the hypergate), they just werent fast enough.

What would be REALLY cool if there was a hypergate in the dyson sphere that leads to the Sol system, which is now a nomad stronghold. Means nomads were actually trying to get the Sol nomads over to Sirius for backup. Or maybe make it lead to Alpha Centauri (closest star to our Sol sun) which is where the nomads built the suncrusher, and a jumphole from there to the Sol system, which is now a bunch of debris.

...

So Nomads infested the same leadership which ordered the construction of the Sleeper Ships which would help humanity escape its impending termination.

I see a problem here.

Also, what makes you think the Nomads built the Suncrusher themselves? The DK built the Nomads.

Edit: The extended intro conflicts with the Nomads' motivations in vanilla freelancer. Vanilla is the first instance of human-Nomad contact, and the Nomads are reacting to repel what they interpret to be human invaders. This defensive strategy does not hold any correlation with the alpha-strike executed against Sol in the extended intro.

This is just a couple of random thoughts...

1) The beauty of freelancer's "destroyed earth" back story is that it breaks up a natural inclination for a Sol-centered human empire. That is why there is so much creative potential in that lore, because it offers a "clean slate" for all civilization to build on brand new foundations without a desire to "return home".

2) If you're going to put it in, it would make sense that there wouldn't be a string of empty systems leading to Sol. It would make more sense to have the system cut off "in the distance" somewhere (like the prison systems??) and only accessible via jump drives.
