Ok. I'm changed with my beliefs on POBs, they're friggin' awesome. Build more in New York/Liberty please guys!
Beauty of it these POBs there will seize activity which 'hopefully' will spread out more evenly or somewhere else in Sirius.

It doesn't matter if someone's in the same system as the POB or if there isn't a single person online -- that's 84 instances of POBs ranging from core 1 to core 4, each doing a whole set of stuff, each adding to the server load, each increasing lag a tiny bit.
This is wrong and harmful to the server.
Something needs to be done about this.
EDIT: Something that doesn't involve deleting a potentially cool feature like POBs altogether.
Make them easier to kill and remove the retarded OP turrets. Players are what should be doing the killing on a server based around player interactions, not NPCs or auto turrets.
as it seems most people breezed over this, ill point to it.
why arent POBs restricted to Factions? Now, to avoid a few randoms "forming" a faction just to get bases, make them only for official factions AND trusted, proven unofficial factions.
im sure some while QQ about this, but seriously if POBs are restricted like suggested above it will give factions both activity but also allow for RP with other factions.
and it stops random lolbases popping up overnight.

I see nothing wrong with that.
As the base owner, you need to calculate the risks. So you should get people to defend the base adequately if it comes under attack.
Bases can be destroyed, This does not mean that an endless work of people goes down the toilet, because some people have "issues" with it. My eyes tell me, Its your problem, its your problem for letting people get core 3-4, and this goes to all who complain about it, deal with it. The more people work on the base, the harder it will be to "outsiders" to kill it, thats the formula, and thats how it needs to stay.

Quote:I've observed, also, that PoBs make these supply runs more ooRP-based. Taking illogical routes that have no piracy risk and avoid interaction just to avert the risk of losing the precious supply cargo.
Pretty difficult to deal with it when supplying the base takes precedence against all else. Or when a completely illogical and counter-RP method is used to shut off an entire area. See: Rayburn Station.
My suggestion is simply - delete the plugin. Yes, this hurts. But as we all witness it's broken and, I believe, unreal to be balanced in any way around. If the base is too strong then the attacking party will not like this because they need to gather a forces that are crushing the server to even try while defenders just need to make sure the base have supplies which can be done by 1 player, really. If you'll make them easier to destroy then the building party will not like this because bases will be dead in no time with a lot of time invested wasted. And the problem is that the edge between OP bases and useless bases is very tiny and, in fact, can't be found in any real frames of time.
So it's easier to let this plugin go with light heart because it failed. While the POB plugin was off the player count was actually higher as we even managed to hit 170+. Now it's on and it's barely over 100 in the weekend evening.
Let it go - yes, the idea was interesting, the time was consumed, the future was painted as bright and happy. But it's easier to let it go now then to fuck with it another few months and to do the same there.
So really all these threads are complaining about Bases with lots of turrets or is it just Bases in general?
Some Bases I know have either no Weapon Platforms or those that have them are away from Civilisation and have a couple to act as a deterrent.
The ones that are away from Civilisation and are protected can easily be avoided as they generally appear red to you at a 10k distance. If you proceed to advance on them then you deserve everything your get.
If you wander around Africa and see a Lion in the distance and you head towards it, don't complain if it attacks you.
