I'd like to see all bases within the mining fields moved out, the rule is good but as people have said: It only prevents it from happening more, not fixing the current situation. I am really hopeful about this, moving your base 15k won't hurt at all.

Thanks

Why can't we just simply move the POBs away from said area? Using lex retro non agit here is already useless for (harmful) Core 4 bases within the fields which are the reason behind ruleset update. On the other hand it would be too harsh to drop bases from Core 4 into Core 2 without any compensation.

Just move them from the mining area. It could be even up or down.

short version: 5-7 k distance from field

- well first of all i think all who did build a pob in the mining field thought it would be a clever idea beeing close to the resources.
- on the other hand when setup was done, most came to know that even friendly ships got shot when unintended hit the base but now it is too late moving the base somewhere else - even a core 1 or 2 is a lot of work - noone of them building it would kill the base now.

is this thread now about people shot by base or is it about a new "make it easier to be pirated" ? or is it to get the bases out of the asteroid fields (remember asteroid fields <> mining fields, mining fields are only a small part of it).

if you want to make it in a peaceful way - they need to be moved out of weaponrange seen from the border of the mining field (thats 5-7k). moving a base 10 or 15 k away may put it in the clear sky - noone would have planted the base there (except alberta *greetings there, who did use the planet as a natural shield).

@ cashew: "I'd like to see all bases within the mining fields moved out" Looks to me the most fair thing - if you really mean ALL - no matter what lvl.

shouting "dump them back to Level 2" or "its because you ..." or whatever personal does not help in this thread.

Dropping back all the bases to the Core 2 would be too harsh, because it would make players simply hate administration team, as it wasn't the problem rulewise (remember, lex retro non agit - change of the rule cannot influence things done in the past).

Moving them away, but at least 10-K from the area. It's just 30 seconds to make such a distance. But like it was mentioned before, instadock without RP is a very bad thing, at least in a bad taste - and should be in some way penaltized. What's the difference between that and silent trader? At least the silent trader can be shot upon if it does not react for about a minute.

Community feedback has been received. Admins voted and decided that the minimum distance for POB's to be from mining fields in order to upgrade beyond Core 2 will be 15k. The OP has been edited to reflect this change.

As mentioned a couple times in this thread already, if you own a POB in a mining field and wish to upgrade your POB beyond Core 2, you may post a Player's Request to the Admins to have your base moved outside this 15k distance.
