I started an account from scrathc and got it (only with missions and selling loot) up to lvl 50 or so flying around in a bomber, I think it Should be a challenge to do missions, and kill enemies. You do get paid a lot for it in Disco, with all the pilots dropping out:D, but I think the corsair missions can be made a lot harder:D
In my opinion, the only NPC that needs dumbing down are those Freelancers. It takes a Battlecruiser do down a FALCON Freelancer NPC..... And don't get me started on the level 19 ones.... UGH.....

Actually, if you get a couple solid missile hits on them, they go off crying to their mommies with no guns. Nonetheless, they ARE insanely tough. Still, doesn't compare to Invinco-Scorpions, or Cruiser-Wraths. Those Omega-58 Wilde are absurd....

While, admittedly, the Wraths have way too much armor (in open SP, they were the only things that ran from my hessian-missile-spam-cruiser).
But, it would appear that all individual gunboat patrols have insane armor-fired about 10+ battleship mortars into each molly GB to down it.
It's just the fact that within ~0.5 seconds of entering O-58, you have gathered a swarm of wild that are doing over 100k DPS. Top that off with the uber-wrath-armor, and the uber-independant-gunboat-hull, and you have a winning (losing?) combo.

*cough* Add to that the fact that he Wilde Wraths are sporting battleship-level weaponry, they become horrifying death machines.

EDIT: Oh, and the Wilde Scorpions take two minutes to die once at zero health, during which time they can STILL SHOOT AT YOU!!!!!:shok::shok:

I didn't stick around long enough to shoot the gunboat that much...due to dying.
On another note...what is with the Corsair NPCs in New London? I was just tying to shoot some of them in my Percheron...and they seem to have the ability to suddenly reverse direction, with no warning, and then travel at the same speed at which they travel forwards. It annoyed me so much I almost gave up shooting at them...

Sounds like a touch of lag to me.... the worse lag gets, the wierder ship movements get. Even with very little lag, sometimes you get a weird spike like that...
Peraonally I like the challenge of high end NPCs. I've been playing open-sp and for fun I drop into hostile guard systems to test myself and whatever ship and setup I'm using. I can imagine they are a bother to some but to me it's fun. I did one mission where I delt with two wings of Titans and three Corsair capships. I was flying a pimped out Taiidan bomber and was able to deal with the whole bunch in around thirty minutes, I admit the bounty wasn't enough to pay for all the repairs later but damn what a ride it was.:yahoo:

I'm assuming you're referring to the Uber-Legionnaires. Their maneuverability combines with the lag to produce some of the most spectacularly inhuman flight patterns, which verge on teleportation rather than actual flight if your ping is high enough. I've found that missiles can help, but not by much.

You'll find this continues in Open SP as well. If 10/10 was the problem, only 4/10 of it would be lag. I mean seriously, those pilots must be on some cocktail of combat drugs. Then there's the problem of it being easier to kill a NPC Titan than a NPC Legionnaire.
