The idea is they are your battleships, so you should be responsible for their upkeep. God, you wouldn't even need to PAY if you didn't get them destroyed. Also-

If Respawning a BS costs 70 mil, give us BS missions that pay 70 mil.

Is it considered a bad thing that I have (or had - 2 of them got wiped for inactivity) ships in 5 of those categories at one point?

I've gone on missions many a time where you can, between the mission and the cards from kills, pick up 10 million or more at a time. So that's not that big of an issue.

Not wanting to read the whole 9 pages....While I think this would be an interesting thing to test,my greatest underlying fear is that the PvP elite with their unlawful gang would have a field day going against every lawful cap they could find,reguardless of what sector of space said cap was in.

Having said that,I believe that the forums,while already overloaded with more than enough whining about things,would be ,at best,ten times worse,and I wouldn't even want to think about the exponentional increase in the admins workload reguarding the increase in sanctions being filed.

I'm sorry,but I personally don't think we are ready for such an endevour.Just reading how things have been going for the past several months is,as I see it,all the proof needed.

Really, it just wont work. Some folks to prove their ossimness actively hunt caps. You need to lose most of playerbase? APprove this idea.

@Agmen, the only BS missions that pay that much are Order, Corsairs, Outcasts, and possibly BHG, in the borderworlds. Most factions that have battleships do not have these missions.

I'm not completely opposed to the idea, but the prices need to be cut quite drastically.

Perhaps this.
  • Fighters and bombers - death penalty - 300,000.
  • Freighters - death penalty - 500,000.
  • Transports (3600 cargo and below) - death penalty - 700,000.
  • Transports (3601 cargo to 5000) - death penalty - 1,000,000.
  • Liners - death penalty 1,500,000
  • Gunboats - death penalty - 2,000,000.
  • Cruisers - death penalty - 3,000,000.
  • Battlecruisers - death penalty - 4,000,000.
  • Light battleships - death penalty - 5,000,000
  • Heavy battleships - death penalty - 6,000,000
  • Barge - death penalty - 6,500,000

Remember, this IS just a game, not real life, and it should not imitate real life so much. This is Freelancer, not Second Life.

High death penalty prices will just cause people to get mad, and either quit Disco or sell their ships out of anger, which is bad.

Also, the penalties should only count if another PERSON gets the kill, not an NPC. But, as has been said, it will be abused quite massively, so even the prices I have are probably too high.

Disco of Disco does have this, or had it, but they also give you free CAP 8 battleships and like a billion credits. You don't get that here, you have to spend your time grinding to afford a battleship here.

So while we are going to charge Battleships soo much money when they die, will we then balance it by giving them the combat capability capships "should" have?
