Okay, the more I read about this bill - and the concurrent NDAA bill - the more I cannot help but see this degenerating into a political discussion. So I'm recommending that it be closed.
(The reason it's going to get political is that SOPA and NDAA are both violations of due process.)

Gotta love it when our "democratic" government shows what it truly is. The elections are bogus the candidates even worse. I'm not talking about the president (well, not only), I mean all politcians. Senators, Governors, judges, everywhere and everyone. The United States, as we like to think of it, is a good idea. It'd be nice where we had actual rights (not rights will hundreds of pages of small-text), where we were allowed to choose how we wanted to live our lives, where money wouldn't be a hinderance to our dreams (college fees anyone?).
Regardless, I say Revolutionary War II ! Out with the old in with the new.
Just kidding, though not really. This country was born a failure out of blood, violence, and ignorance on both sides. Now, I'm going to go scrape some money out of my wallet and try to order something off the dollar menu, I hope I have enough.
meanwhile... politicians are throwing feasts and parties to celebrate their elections and personal events.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how you torpedo a thread on the Discovery forum.

Saw the guy before's post so I assumed it was going to get locked anyway. Might as well go all out.
Though in my opinion this thread was partially doomed to start off. Where the word politician is mentioned, one of a few things generally happen.
Out-of-control Gay Debates
Endless Religious debates
Trolling upon trolling
Some mention of Obama, Chuck Norris, Jackie Chan, or Your mother
The eventual lock-down of the thread

piracy wont ever stop
besides lets face it soemtimes you simply canyt find things so you need to torrent
How about you guys go to hell with politic debates and mainly out of my thread, no one gives a damn what you think of americas judges, this is about SOPA.
I am asking mods to rather delete the posts than to lock this
I believe SOPA was successfully postponed until January.
In the meantime, politicians are learning and becoming more informed about the Bill. Many have started to realize the damage it would do. Thank heavens..

The problem is that SOPA is on the face of it an illegal act, because it deprives the owner and holder of the domain page his property without due process of law. However, in most (but not all) cases, the owner and holder of the domain page IS violating copyright law.
That's why I said this is political - it needs to be contested via lawsuit in the court system.

Y'know, I'm gonna ask a question and I'll either be held as an idiot for it, or be given some measure of respect.
Why do we even need a government? At the fall of every empire there was one common factor: A government that sought too much control from the people. Take out the government of today? My family and everyone I know will continue to live our lives as we always have. Going to work, buying food, gifts, items for entertainment, going to movies, Olive Garden on Thursday with the cousins, etc. Nothing would really change? I'm not saying take out the Judicial area, we'd still need protection from crime, but I've never seen or heard of a government actually doing something over-all good for its people that didn't give the related politicians a moment of fame and glory.
I'm sure I'm just rambling, probably less-educated/informed, or just otherwise being stupid, but that's how I see it. Am I wrong? Correct me, but don't go into a two paragraph double-spaced all-bold mostly-underlined rage moment about it.
