Brief History:
The OCV-Hepshetsut was originally comissioned from the hull of a scrapped Corvo Deep Space Explorer with the intention of creating a rugged and adaptable recon vessel that could operate away from Order facilities for months or even years on end. Retrofitted at Evora shipyard to mount most of the same scanning equipment as a Resheph class recon cruiser, the Hepshetsut combines the rugged reliability and simplicity of design of it's Zoner predecessor and the scouting and recon capabilities of the Resheph class. In it's short history, the Hepshetsut has seen both great success and great tradgedy, assisting with many Order operations in House space and beyond. During one of it's recon sweeps in the Omegas however, the Hepshetsut persued a Wilde gunboat into Omega 58 and was ambushed by Das Wilde. The vessel was crippled and left adrift until a rescue operation was mounted. Unfortunately only 10 of the 67 strong crew were recovered and a further crew member died of his wounds on the return trip to Omicron Minor.
The wreck of the Hepshetsut was later given hasty field repairs in a covert repair operation carried out by the survivors, before being piloted back to Evora shipyard for repairs and refitting. The officers on board are largely drawn from the survivors of the original Hepshetsut crew, with the remainder being drawn from the brightest and best graduates of the Order academy with the exception of the Hepshetsut's three five-man marine teams, who are invariably hardened ship-to-ship combat veterans trained and equipped for combat in airless, zero-gravity environments. The vessel also hosts a wing of two 042A 'Bastet' very heavy fighters in its twin single vessel hangar bays. These vessels are often used as a Combat Air Patrol in hostile space as well as being used for ranging recon sorties when the Hepshetsut is secure.
