Suddenly a small screen located on the wall turns on, everyone in the room stares at the screen waiting for the news jingle to finish

This is Gunther Specht of the Daumann internal news channel, we are interrupting your usual broadcast under authorization of code R-765-U of the employees contract, to bring you a special high priority news flash, broadcasting live from The Ring, Alina Limmer; spokeswoman of the Board of The Directors.

The image of a young woman standing on a podium shows up on the screen, she stares at the camera for a few seconds, then nods.

Good day fellow employees of Daumann Heavy Construction. As you already know the imperialist Kingdom Bretonia has started a campaign against our nation; violating our laws on purpose and ignoring our government's attempt to remain in peace. Despite our leaders attempts, the Bretonians have showed their true faces ignoring them and decided to go straight to war. In order to prevent loses the Board has decided to temporary stop our mining operations in Omega 3, to allow Rugen to be used as an outpost and allow the military to have a staging ground to defend Rheinland's interests from these foreign madmen known as Bretonians. The following orders are to be executed immediately after the end of this internal press release:

All long-range comercial vessels are ordered to relocate to Briesen and wait for further instructions.

Miner taskforce 12 and 13 will relocate to Briesen and proceed with the system's usual operations.

Miner taskforce 14 and 15 and 16 will relocate to Solarius... Ummm... (The woman pauses for a second) And proceed with usual system operations.

Squadron 23, 34, and 41 are to relocate to Stuttgart maintenance facility to wait for further instructions.

Squadron 35 will relocate to Briesen and will remain there until further notice.

The remnants of squadron 24 and 36 will be merged in one and remain at Rugen and will continue with their usual patrols.

Rugen will placed in level 4 security and remain like that until a further orders are delivered.

Short and mid range convoys in and to the base will remain as usual.

All employees are advised to keep their heads up for any strange activity... If the Omegas could get anymore strange... and report them to their immediate superior.

Finally the Board wants to make clear that the rumors spread on the last weeks about conscripting escort pilots to assist the military are just that. Rumors.


The woman looks at the camera and makes a gesture, the screen then switches back to Gunther Specht.

Elisabeth attempted to conceal her grin at Elias' obnoxiously loud declarations about the GMG forces in Sigma-13. She stared into her cup of coffee, remaining silent while the other miners gathered around to hear what had happened.

"It's not that exciting," she thought, "some gas miners got blown up because they were too stupid to ask for help. So what?"

She leant back in her chair and shook her head while Elias shouted something about vacuums to nobody in particular.

"They didn't just get shot," protested Elias. "They got decimated! To a man! Or to four! Whichever I mean."

He sat with a grunt. His eyes closed, opened, refocused. He stood and walked with a little too much haste towards the lavatories.
