the inferno is all you need..if you have rp for it...it is awesome...not as dual purpose as a mini...but, the shield damage it does is awe inspiring.

I understand the Inferno; I used it for quite a while but didn't ever really like it. I don't think it works as part of the discussion though because it isn't a gun. The proposal gives everyone else shield busters on top of access to a variety of torp slotted weapons like CDs, Sunslayers, mini-Razors for their fighters. Forcing outcast-aligned unlawfuls to put their shield buster in the torp slot takes away much flexibility in setups.

yup....

also, has anyone thought that the del cid line is invisible?
makes it much harder to hit with....bit of compensation for its power.

Hmm... but all other Corsair weps fire at the same speed and refire... so you can just look at them.

Just an additional idea so that Outcasts would be able to use shield busting guns and maybe mourning about unbalance would end..

How about not spending Igiss' time making the same gun for 20 factions with minor alterations for "flavor"? Just consider 'civilian' open to everyone, make a couple different velocity civ shield busters, and call it a day.

because, morrigan, we honestly think it would be a nice addition.
it would add to the RP, and, besides, no one here is demanding Igiss even look at this thread.
we are posting because we believe we have something positive to add.
I for one support making guns for each faction.
players fly high level ships.
shouldn't they get high level guns?
this is our suggestion for what Igiss spends the time he spends working on the mod doing....his perogative, and we are beggars...but, well, honestly, my impression of Igiss is of someone who wants to make a well balanced, enjoyable player environment.
flavor is part of that.


on another note....if del cids are invisible (why are they? is there any backstory on that?) should other sheildbusters be invisible too?

note: the rapier is invisible as well...so its not just the high level guns.

I'm not looking to deny anyone the right to beg for changes, I make plenty of pleas of my own. But, if the goal is balance (and this thread started as in essence "should shield busters be removed since not everyone gets them") then I think making a slew of new weapons is overkill for the problem when adding a few somewhat generic would suffice.

Trying to give everyone a shield buster that fits their faction is going to a large undertaking because it's going to start getting into things like Codies and Nomad weapons. Why? Because right now Corsairs and their allies are perfectly happy with the 600m/s velocity constant across all of those weapons, but other people are not impressed with their codie options. In another thread people are lobbying to have codies faction-ized already. Do we need to tailor this stuff so specifically?

Right now you'll find most Red Hessians using a rack of Natterturn Zwei (a native Hessian weapon) and a couple of Debilitators. This is a 750m/s setup and it works fine. But making Debs off limits and pushing factions like ours into using an Outcast-specific shield buster at 700m/s means we all turn in our Natters for Krakens.

For some of us, Sync'd gun velocities are very important, especially for those of us without access to the nomads, codies, and del cids all nicely matched up at 600m/s. I know the above plan was aimed at making more shield busters available at different speeds, but invariably factions will still be left using allied weaponry instead of their own good quality stuff because not every angle is going to be covered unless Igiss makes a metric-frack-tonne of changes to guns. I'd rather see a few more generic civies and call it done.

I would argue, that in the most recent update, every faction got a ship.
or six.
now they need guns.
and, I don't see any problem with each house military, 2 of which are engaged in wars, and the other 2 who are undergoing a sort of a cold war, to come out with sheildbusting technology.
I see debbies as civilian guns, and read rumors about them being stolen from detroit.
I don't think it makes sense for them to be sold elsewhere, because detroit is a private company.
so, I argue for more guns.
more variety.
Keep your debbies.
I don't say every faction should get its own sheildbusters...the only criminal factions that I can think of with that sort of infrastructure would be junkers, or hogosha.
junkers because they are ubiquitous, and hogosha because they are so closely tied to kusari government, and as such, the corsairs.
as far as criminals getting sheildbusters, it would be cool if on occasion, they were lootable from npcs...
