I didn't make this a poll because I don't get the feeling that polls accomplish anything here. But I could add one. Or get a mod to add one. Whatever.
What should the options be? A simple "Do you want this yes/no?" Or something more than that?
And I'll admit, I haven't been paying much attention to forums in the past few months (I kind of locked myself in Flood and Craig'd about). I didn't see many other large discussions about inactive factions keeping their status and whatnot. If this is something that's been brought up a few times before, don't we already have an idea of who wants or doesn't want it?
But yeah. If you want a poll, go ahead and throw one in.

Only problem with this, is it makes specialised non-NPC factions immune from activity requirements. Replacement factions physically can't be made for groups like the SCRA, HF, CR, IND and Phantoms (defunct).
Making sure that factions only lose their status when a replacement is made ensures these guys are permanently official, if you go by the book.
30 hours over a normal faction isn't particularly hard - however, I understand how factions fall below that. Groups with a small membership tend to get locked into a nasty recursive cycle. People don't play, so people don't join. No new blood means the group stagnates. A stagnant group means less people play. So on.

Yeah, that crossed my mind here, too. I didn't want to bog down the first post with even more words and minor details, though, so I didn't mention it. I guess that these specialized factions would still adhere to the old rule, and that less than 30 hours of activity means total faction death. That's not ideal, either, but I don't have any big ideas for that.

Well, it would be ironic if the HF lost their ability to determine who got their white-cell tech, which was the root cause of the one-ID per faction rule.
In any case, groups like the Wilde (all forms), SCRA and Phantoms must be official to survive - they require Admin repping. Well, maybe not the SCRA any more, but it's still a special case. Their faction rights aren't a problem, but their ability to exist are.

I don't see it that way, if the SCRA falls below the threshold, someone else can put a proposal together.
I would be all for this amendment to the rules. KSP or Volksfront or Mollies or VE going unofficial doesn't help anyone.
