' Wrote:I'm still waiting on 4.86 before I really return to disco, but I still keep in the loop regarding the order... mostly, anyways. Still, other than the phantoms, there's nothing of tactical importance in omicron alpha that interests us - most of our time spent in alpha has either been to keep an eye on phantom activities or to research the nebula around the omicron 90 jumphole.
Even around the time I quit playing disco, RP seemed to be meaning less to players than straight up pvp, so I dont expect anyone to try and follow any kind of sensible RP now - but as far as the faction's RP goes, we have absolutely no reason or want to engage the outcasts. Our former allies turned on us, we got our planet blown up by nomads, lost almost the entire fleet, and we're on the run to a new home system - we have neither the manpower, resources, or time to engage an enemy that's more or less left us alone in the past.
Fair 'nuff, though that's talking .86, right?
Don't know when that will come out and maybe at least -until then- some resources could be spared here and there? I realize iRPly the Order stuff's all meant to be pretty "high-tech" and such, but I don't see how until .86 comes around a bunch of fighters supported by the odd caps here or there would be too heavy on resources though. Could just start with looking into Outcast and Nomad activity and go from there, I'm sure that the occasional "investigation" wouldn't hurt, and if you got bothered in the explosive and violent ways, some occasional raid might not hurt either. It's like 95% the ingame aspect I'm interested in, the RP background can always change in my opinion, as I like to think of RP as something that can evolve and "go with you" rather than as something that binds you to XYZ, so to speak.
While I was Order faction leader I never fancied Order| ships staging raids on Alpa, or taking parts in those, and even before I became leader.
While we were still in good relations with Corsairs we tried to help them out while Gamma was under OC raids, but never take part in counter raids.
I dunno actually why I didn't liked it back then, maybe cause we had enough activity around Delta, and were busy with our own stuff.
But now when I look at things, at current situation where Order is, 4.85 senting some small task/battle group to Alpha wouldn't be such a bad idea, maybe squadron of bombers or so, capitals such as osiries should be lefted out though.
Those "raids" dun have to have any influence on further Order development, just for ingame fun.

On it, 63rd needs something to do anyway. CHARGE!
B-)
Power does not corrupt. Fear corrupts... perhaps the fear of a loss of power.
Thats intresting idea for sure, like a snub wing operation- 100%
And would be great, if Order| ship must be necessary in such <strike>raids</strike> operations, to maintain control of action.
It's just an issue of overextending forces that are already stretched entirely too thin to do their job. We dont have the resource of a house military, we're a small organization, and we've got to keep tabs on nearly every system in sirius with limited numbers. If we piss off an entirely new group that hasnt had too much of an issue with us before now, we're just bringing more trouble on ourselves and limiting our ability to do the job at hand.
The situation in alpha has always called for stealth and diplomacy, not open combat.
All fair and good and I didn't want to drop this argument here that heavily, but do explain how you simulate the lack of resources and the small size of your organization as well as how you do "the job at hand" when you have # Osirises / Gebs / Reshephs / Hathors sitting around Minor everyday all-day long, figuratively speaking, jumping at the first opportunity to shoot something, and more often than not doing so. In-game.
It isn't so much a question of RP as it is of practical in-game actions, as I think I've said it before. In other words giving people something to do with their toys. I already outlined in a previous post how a possible future conflict against the Outcasts is something that would be more than anything else offensive in nature due to "geography" if you will. Paying Outcasts a visit here and there is hardly going to be something that will cause retaliation in the shape of 20 Ranseurs at Toledo's doorstep, and even if it did right now, you have your "hand of god"-like Isis there for the time being.
Alpha is a long way from the Isis, it's unlikely to happen.

But seriously, the Order is not meant to be a big navy that goes and picks fights with people, they're a bunch of secret agent types that want to protect humanity from the shadows. So attacking Alpha with fleets would make about as much sense as Bretonia and Rheinland going to war again.
