Here is an updated version of DSAce.dll. The reason for releasing this is to gather information on the stability of this dll in prior to the public beta of 4.86.

It includes improved wide screen support. This is enabled in the same way as the standard version. (i.e. with the -dx and related parameters).

It also includes changes to the way information is transferred and it might allow people bad connections to the server to connect a little more easily.

There other functionality buried in this file. I'll post about some of it later. Most of its functionality was developed 2 years ago and it has been waiting for release since then.

To install, download the file from the following link and put this file into your Freelancer\EXE folder. If you have done this correctly it should ask if you want to replace the existing file - do this.

Download link: http://discoverygc.com/files/DSAce.dll

Have fun and post your observations or problems in this thread.

It's in no way bad to be a tester.

Also, it may be useful to remind people to make a backup of their original DSAce.dll just in case.

I tried it and I must say it's much better than before! No problems so far.:D
Here's a comparison

after: http://screenshot.xfire.com/s/117317840-4.jpg

The high FOV on the turret view seems to be fixed as well which bugged me when I had my Osiris. It also fixed the weird system map grid.

Well, I like the idea that there aren't any issues when you start the game the first time as before, but could it be done that the text wont be that big?

After: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/195/52141090.jpg/

Before: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/692/83815337.jpg/

Look at the "new player" text, dont you think its just too big? Dunno if its just me.....

Re: Widescreen support; I'm already using Adoxa's hudshift along with one of his .dll files which does something like recalculate screen size (?) so that the hud is put in the correct position (jflp.dll, for reference). Any chance it will interfere?

Anyway, I'll download it. Could you possibly give us some more details about what it is supposed to do so that we can look out for those particular improvements?

There was a sig here, once.
