Santiago:*lowers her voice a bit* Agent, I understand that being insulted for your cretese origins can be... unnerving. But if you react, not only you lower yourself to their same level, but you give them exactly what they want. *pauses* Not many people in the Order know it, but I was a corsair myself. I've been serving in the CNS, like you, but I was already in the Imperial Fleet before the CNS was formed. I fought in the war with the Zoners, and later I lobbied for peace with the same Zoners. Do you know why? Because I was corsair, and I knew honor. When someone thinks you don't belong to here because you've been a corsair, it's because they don't know anything about our people. We are born on Crete, yes, and we fight with mind and heart, with every muscle, bone and blood cell. Defending Crete was our cause, but a corsair's thirst is never quenched. We joined Order because defending Mankind is the greatest cause that can be served, and we can do it well. *pauses again and looks into his eyes* Remember this. When they insult you, remember this, and just laugh on their limits.
The woman nods at Sombrero, and a barely perceptible hint of a smile forms on her lips.
Wizard: Mr.Fisher, are you still playing with kids here?
Me and Mr.Barnes are getting ready to engage bottle of tequila and to genk some stakes after that...
Wash your hands before you come, who knows what that cannibal was cutting with that knife...
Sombrero nods. "I understand Ma'am. *he ignores Fisher* I think I should think about it for a while anyway. About that insulting of our origins...well it seems like I am still not experienced enough to laugh about something like this. *he smiles slightly* But I am working on it. Indeed I don't want to kill anyone around here. That's not the reason why I joined the Order."
Bolevara looked at the heated argument with amusement. It was amusing for all of five seconds anyways. Then his smile slowly became a frown. Muttering something uncomplimentary, he returned to his glass.
Santiago nods once more, then turns again to look at the windows; up in the sky, the occasional flashes and light trails denounce yet another skirmish in the space of Minor. The major sighs and shakes her head.
"By the way. How can it be I never heard about you? Neither about you nor about your leaving of the empire. I always was up to date in several news in the Corsair empire. *he looks at the Major* Or was that another coverup of the Elders?"
