Okay I'm getting seriously perinoid over this. Every one keeps calling Battlships (BS) Now I can clearly see why. However the part thats bugging me is BS stands for Bull ****:P. The correct term for a Battleship is "BB." Several people have seen me say BB and went what is BB. I was almost about to smack em. Gunboat which is GB is correct. Cruiser = CC Destroyer = DD Battlecruiser = BC (Also correct) and Carrier = CV.

I doubt most of you will actualy start saying BB but at least try. Instead of useing BS as a double meaning.

Thank you.

Oh and reason why I know this is most of my family was in the Navy. An the fact I play alot of navy games.

We have been through this discussion before, and while this is true in real life, in FL its BS. BB stands for Bretonian Battleship.

@ stewcool: I have neither family memebers in any navy nor many others. So i'm sure you will pay comprehension to all, which have this lack of knowledge and are using the terms wich are made and community approved in the manner of CS. I'm sure you know what it is.

Stewcool,
I know how you feel as I have encountered a few ignorant people who refuse to refer to a ship by its proper classification and instead resort to the excuse "Well Microsoft calls it a BS so its BS not BB".
I for one find this disrespectful to the military services and just plain lazy.

Here is a bit of perspective for you,
Would you walk up the the memorial of the U.S.S. Arizona and refer to it as the BS Arizona?
I would bet that if someone did, I doubt they would be walking home unassisted.

Short and sweet of it people, its disrespecful.

No it isn't... BS doesn't define its home nation. U.S.S does, and doesn't define the ship class.

L.N.S means 'Liberty Navy Ship', and DOES get used. BS defines the class in Disco. This is pedantry at its worst.

I would say "the Battleship U.S.S. Arizona" because BB sounds just as stupid as BS.
This really isn't a big deal - It's a compound word so it makes sense for it to be abbreviated as "BS" for BattleShip. There's only one B, so the most logical abbreviation is BS. Because it's more logical, it's clearer in combat to type "Kill the BS first!" than "Kill the BB first".

Oh yeah. There is only one tiny Navy around the world.
So only cassifications of the US navy are 'proper'?!
Please don't answer it is a rethorical question.

BS means BattleShip in FL (FreeLancer).

The proper designation regarding to stewcool for a BS in FL would be SSLSSBB
Sirius SuperLuminal Super BattleShip

I didn't see that in the game anywhere.

and to the OP, Cruisers in the USNavy were never CC that I am aware. They are/were CA or CL or CG or CGN depending on the 20th century form of cruiser.

Yep. CA for armored cruiser, CL for light cruiser, CG for guided missile cruiser, and CGN for a nuclear-powered guided missile cruiser.

I guess you could call destroyers in FL CLs, and cruisers CAs. But that's kinda nitpicking.:PHonestly, it doesn't bother me when people call battleships BS. And in case anyone wonders, my dad was an officer in the US Navy for 20 years, so I grew up in a nautically-inclined environment...and read books of ship and aircraft specifications for amusement.

Not a big deal in my mind, we know what BS means in-game.:)
