So we either remove the Mars Flyer turret, or make it unmountable. Both would do fine.

Compensation sounds fine. When this mod gets popular, there'll be people abusing BS customizability. Even if we don't do it now, we'll have to remove the ability to customize BSs sooner or later.

Having followed this discussion I have found that customizing my B/S has only taken the fun out of flying her, I will be removing the Marsflyer turrets, and three of her solaris turrets replacing them with Liberty primary guns. It looks better, is more fun, and will most likely still do the job intended, I'll keep you updated as to how she performs as a basically stock ship.

The Idea of makin the BS' turrets numbers around equall was a good one so thats why i suggested it. Also check my posts for the cap ship shields - excuse me but 200 000 points with 250 regen is nothing - I'm telling 'ya a good VHF gets them down really fast , and then Nova and boom! Most of the guns of the BS are gone...

Also I think that We need more diversity in the BS arment choice - and do look on the idea of makin lv requiremnets for the different class of cap ships - this will make mounting unbelivable equipment of ships obsolete! (My eternal example - GB with BS shield cruser forward gun and BS missles , marsflyers - u get the pic)
All cap ships will be better to have a balanced choice of number mounts.
U remember the stock arment of the BS? A rheiland BS has the most weak turrets - but the bigger number of em , and liberty BS has the smallest number guns - but with the big damage. So there is a balance. In order to retain, it ships might have a close number of guns now. There will always be a choice to equip it , especially if we have more BS guns to choose from.
I won't hide - i have several marsflyer guns on my BS - only because every1 are using em and If i don't - I wont have a big chance of surviving a bs fight - especially when I'm against a RH BS (he is not much more expencive than the others , yet he has a big head to head advantage in firepower). At first opportuinity
i'll get them off my ship.
Yeah Angel we all know how much $$$ a BS refit costs. Yet i have spended more than enough to refit a Bret BS , A hugenout and A lib Cruser to the new "standarts" of BS arment. So I think we all have given enough $$$ for them. But I don't mind spending more to re-re-fit them with a proper BS/cruser guns. Afterall $$$ are for that - to be spent. And every class of ship should use it's class' equipment. Not spmething elce.

Bottom line - BS are rather weak now - that is what lays down the need to refit them with these fighter guns -it's just that they are better. And again - a BS shield isn't much of a protection right now - every good player in a good fighter can deal with them easily. We all want to know what are we spending those $$$ for.

Check other posts of mine in the bugs/suggestions etc. treads, (I'm rather tired of repeating over and over again the BS power issue - we need serious blance here!)
and feel free to add even better proposals for the problem.

Personally I think a Rhienland BS with Corsair weapons would be a killer, able to strip other BS shields without using tizonas or other anti-shield weapons because Corsair are designed to be most effective against Graviton based shields.

So I'd suggest, again, that we have some Positron and Molecular based shields for Cap-ships with similar energy ratings as the current Graviton ones.


has no-one noticed that all the liberty rogue and molly huegenots ONLY use class 7 FIGHTER weapons?

My TG Huegenot has 2 britonia missile turrets, 2 liberty cruiser turrets and the rest are IMG class 8 Vampire turrets, along with the 2 gun mounts too (because 1 the TG are linked to the IMG, and 2 because the IMG weapons are tachyon and the turrets have a range of 800). It's got a cruise disrupter (wasp I think), CM, Mine and a sunslayer torpedo.

Now I know it's got 4 turrets that the rogues and mollys can't have / don't use but they're on it because those are 4 out of the 6 or 7 turret mounts where you can clearly see what the turret is.

So no-one can claim "I didn't know you'd got missile turrets"

As far as I can tell there's only a very few ways to customise cap-ships,

1) To kill other Player Cap-ships easily,

2) To kill NPC Cap-ships easily,

3) To kill Player fighters easily,

I always try to set-up or equip my Cap-ships to kill Nomad BS patrols fairly quickly. Then they can usually handle another players Cap-ship with help.

SHIELD | RESISTANCE | WEAKNESS
Graviton | Laser,Photon,Pulse | Particle, Plasma
Postron | Tachyon, Neutron | Laser, Photon, Pulse
Molecular | Particle, Plasma | Tachyon, Neutron

Corsairs use NEUTRON weapons which deal normal damage to grav shields, not more than usual. Theyr weapons are good for blowing up molecular shields. And their pulse weapons are good at blowing up every shield :crazy:

Okay, so I was a little off on what shield the Corsair weapons are designed to go through, it still doesn't alter the fact that Corsair (and Outcast) weapons go through Graviton shields like a hot knife through butter.

I agree with angel and wolf. Making turrets unmountable isn't such a good idea. If all bs would have all the're turrets locked ..... MONOTNY :wacko:

Again it comes down to how someone wants there own ship, it isn't fair for a few to make Law for all, thats Igiss's job :crazy:

But seriously, just let players build what they want, If all the battlehips where to have what they came stock with we would be slightly better than the NPC's ships.

I just got a chance to try out the Dreadnought. I almost got my ass kicked by a single fighter... twice.

Oh, and the energy turrets use way too much energy. BSs are supposed to have huge reactors that can supply the weapons with enough energy to last for at least 30 seconds. =/
