Senor Ward,

Whilst peoples opinions on whether people like the SCRA can formulate anything sensible, or that they are above incompetance is purely speculative, I would suggest that an invite to any Bretonian into Omega 49 is asking for trouble.
We have only to look at how certain Bretonian backed privateers acted upon discovery of that system and Carina's actions recently in Omega 3. I really would prefer, due to the unique position that Gran Canaria holds both geographically and demographically, a more....obvious place like a Freeport.
Freeport 1 for example?
Showing ones hand to an enemy might be considered bravado by some, foolish by others.

Anyway, if the invitation stands, a Corsair delegation may attend.

Sincerely yours,

Chico Benitez

Even in times of war channels of communication should be maintained. Just so that the said war doesn't last forever. It would be for the best, that bilateral relations aren't an issue when it comes to delegations.

Notwithstanding, if invited - a Colonial delegation will be dispatched to attend the conference at freeport 1.

Greetings Nathan Ward,
For the same reasons I was interested to participate to the Sirius Summit, I am also interested to participate to this alternative summit.

Dissatiisfied...?

I find it difficult to be satisified, or discombobulated with something that doesn't exist... but..

Where was is.. oh yes.

As the TAZ were somewhat snubbed and hung out to *cough* dry at the last New Eden Summit *hack*.. "No.. compost that one", I will have to consult with our Polyfathers and tickle Mal to goose Eris who then will pontifcate.. and She will probaby has some rude comment about teaching pigs to fly..

Ummm.. we'll get back to you when it makes sense, eh?

Reggie.. I think...

Dear Prospective Delegates

It seems at least some of the voices here are unhappy with meeting in the Eden Colony for one reason or anther. If the majority would prefer a different venue, the Enclave would still be happy to attend and pass the responsibility to those in charge of that venue for the organisation.

I however, with respect, would like to argue that Freeport 1 is not the ideal location. I am very fond of Mr Summers, however in light of the Omega crisis, both Bretonia and Rhineland may feel unable to attend. It may also prevent delegates from Kusari, from making an appearance as they have to travel an area claimed by Bretonia. Just as I felt it was wrong to exclude the Coalition and the Colonial Republic, the Houses should not be excluded either.

Senor Benitez : I understand your concerns, but Bretonia has attended meetings on Gran Canaria before and behaved well. Also, they would be foolish to begin aggressions at the meeting, as it would not be tolerated by all others attending. However, Gran Canaria is not just the preserve of Zoners and Virulians, the Cosairs are an important part of it, and if you are resistant to the idea still, it would be difficult for me to push Eden as the location for this meeting. We have no wish to antagonise you.

Reggie: I am sorry that you were unhappy at the last summit. I was not a member of the Council at that time. I was serving drinks to delegates in fact. So I am not totally acquainted with all that went on. As I have said if moving venue would make you reconsider potentially not attending, then I would be happy to accede to your demands.

Finally to everyone, as I have said if you all would prefer somewhere else, the Virulians will support your decision. As I said I simply have reservations about Freeport 1, but if the problems detailed could be overcome, we would be happy to attend any meeting there as well

Creator guide and protect us,

Curate Nathan Ward.

Senor Ward,

I merely remind you that Carinas avaricious eye is upon 49 and it's environs and allowing them free access may be something that we and the Zoners come to rue at a later date. The choice of the location is with you however.

I am eager to see what this summit brings.

Sincerely yours,

Chico Benitez

Seeing this, i believe that a neutral staging point would be necessary. As a member of the Zoner guard i offer my colony ship, the Avalon, as a neutral ground. The meeting can take place in deep space, outside house borders or conflict zones aboard this vessal, if such is acceptable. While you may question my decision to do so, i will be upfront in admitting my goals are served doing this as well. A possibility for peace leaves less people shooting at MY people as well.

RE: Summit.
Good day to you sir.
I am contacting you on behalf of Acting DO Sir James Cromwell, in regards to the proposed diplomatic summit to be hosted at the Eden Colony. We understand that previous summits involving Bretonia have been held at the site in the past, with the Enclave demonstrating their ability to be fair and even-handed mediators. In of itself, we have no problem with the summit being held at the New Eden Colony. However, there are extreme issues that require addressing before Bowex can feel entirely comfortable with this summit. Acting DO Cromwell has raised the issue of Kusari's attendance.

Should they choose to attend, their delegate will have to traipse through Leeds, New London and Dublin in order to reach Omega 49. This represents a security breach we cannot agree to. While we do not speak for the Bretonian government as a whole, this situation gives us grave misgivings. Sir Cromwell would propose that either, a) Kusari be removed from the list of permitted attendees, or b) a more neutral location be found. One that does not require Kusari spies to stroll through Bretonia's capital. Unless Kusari feels it fair to also give one of our own men a tour around New Tokyo, Bowex cannot see the current situation being a viable option.

Now, Bowex would be interesting in attending the summit, if only to discuss the infrastructure and expansion of our Gran Canaria Port Jackson colony with the Enclave. Of course, this would be best done privately. We would also like to raise the issue of Corsair raids. Bands of these barbarians have recently become ever bolder in their attacks on the settlement. ExSec is more than capable of defending the colony against the current level of hostilities, but it is still a disturbing development.

In any case, Sir Cromwell has a proposal to streamline this summit to the point of manageability - to stop it becoming a sprawling mess of tangled agendas and conflicts. Allow only sovereign entities to attend. This means the four Houses, and organisations that have been diplomatically recognised as sovereign by at least one House. So, this would mean both the Zoners and the Colonial Republic would be entitled to attend. In effect, it allows those who positively and diplomatically contribute to the Sirian community to attend, and excludes self-proclaimed dictators and tyrants.

The Zoners were recognised as a sovereign entity in Omega 49 by the Treaty of Port Jackson. The Colonial Republic have been recognised as a sovereign entity by two Houses, Bretonia included. This means there would be one representative for each entity - a single ambassador for Bretonia, Kusari, Rhienland, Liberty, etc. Perhaps one ambassador for each of the main Zoner organisations would be appropriate too.

Allow lesser organisations such as corporations, guilds and minor political factions and firms to register as specialists and consultants. When a topic in debate is relevant to the interests of one of these specialist consultants, one of the sovereign entities with an ambassador may request that they speak on the matter, in order to provide insight on the issue. This ensures the agenda is not buried under a cacophonous din of arguing delegates.

It allows for the few ambassadors to inform themselves, before continuing on to succinct and ordered talking points. For example, on matters relating to Sirius' economy, the ambassadors from each House could call upon their native trade corporations. The Colonial Republic could call on the IMG. The Zoners could represent themselves on that matter, we are sure. So on, and so forth.

Such measures (or similar ones, at least) must be put in place if this summit is to achieve anything except conflict and cross-purposes. The previous debacle involving Curacao and OS&C should amply prove that allowing a diplomatic free-for-all is a terribly short-sighted idea. We can restate our suggestions in bullet point form to make them clearer, should you wish it, sir. I understand that continuous prose is not always the best form to convey these sorts of subjects.

Bowex greatly anticipates your reply.
Yours sincerely,
Catherine Whitte

Greetings

I must agree that Gran Canaria isn't a good place, but FP1 is even worst. I advice you to have this Summit ... i still don't know why you whant to do it ... on Omega 50, On Porto Novo station or Boa Vista station. Omega 50 is a much more quiet system and i think that any of this bases have the ideal conditions to have such a Summit ... that i still don't know why you want to do it! A more peacefull place and more secure will prevent any hostiles groups to "heat up" before entering the room, or to resolve with guns what they didn't manage with words.

I wish you luck because you will need it, and i also advice you to get a real agenda and put some order on the number of guest. I see you already have Samura, SCRA, Omicroners, the Corsairs .. wait .... Benitez will represente the Benitez family or all Corsair Empire?! Be carefull don't make the same mistakes like others! If benitez come to rpresente their family so is better put another 2 chairs for the Sails and TBH, and Houses must also be there. But you must get a real agenda otherwise what will you all be talking about? The weather?!

Best regards

Viriato

Subject: Summit

Good day to you all, I hope you are all well,
Gateway Interstellar is always open to talking with other distinguished companies and political bodies to further peaceful trade and commerce within Sirius.

After reading the comm from Miss Whitte, on behalf of Sir James Cromwell, I would like to propose something a little different.

Perhaps renaming this summit to a '€œTrade summit'€ would be better. This would then renege any troubles with diplomats refusing to attend due to various reasons. By all means they could attend if they so wished then perhaps these diplomats would understand their trade company'€™s problems a bit better.

As for a venue, Freeport 4 in Magellan looks like an ideal location, with the IMG'€™s permission of course. Situated where it is would mean very few, if any, organisations would have to travel through hostile space to attend.

If this summit is to go ahead, regardless of location and title, then Gateway Interstellar would indeed be very interested in taking part.

Yours aye
Calum McDonald
