I lost my mission dominix to a client freeze, warped to mission, got afreeze, reappeared in capsule after I shut it down with the task manager.
150m down the drain.
if mining enough, one can make quite good cash. Its not incs, its not pvp, but well, itssomehow safe and all that.
im fairly new to the game so, its all starters for me.
Same here. Went on a mission in a Raven with the lowest skills possible and found that I couldn't hit the frakkin' scrambling frigates who trolled me into submission. Painful to sit there for 15+ minutes and watch them slowly eat through my hull without me being able to do anything, not even warping out. Oh well, 200 million down the drain. Thumbs up for platinum insurance though:-)
That being said, a passive shield-tanking Drake for mission-grinding is really an overpowered ship even with low skills, compared to the Raven I had and the Domi my friend has (and has the proper skills to fly).
Yeh, after losing my Raven I learned of the wonders of T2 drones. And target painters:-) Frigates are still a pain, but a little less so. I think the Domi lets you hold 5 x light, 5 x medium and 5 x heavy drones. I also heard armor tanking is way better than shield tanking for PVP, but I wouldn't know for sure. Still a total noob.

Now I do level 3 and 4 missions in my OP Drake, but I am getting a little bit tired of it. I guess the "real" fun lies in pvp and nullsec stuff.
Edit: Lost a Raven too because of stupidity and got my caracal shot by some dude who probed me down while I was on a mission.
Missions are good money, yes. Mining is much more profitable now since prices went up. I'd advise trying it again after Hulkageddon is over.

In level 4 missions, your first target is always frigates. If you use a mission guide, they will tell you which ones are webifiers or scramblers.
As for armor being better than shield in PvP, no. They both fit in different circumstance, but overall, shields are used most often. Shield buff/passive are the most common.

I always prefer Armor over Shield if I am soloing. However, most of the PVP Fleet Operations in null FC always wanted shield fleet, and he wasn't the only FC that preferred it. Other Fleets that I participated in also looked upon shields over armor. Makes me sad sometimes, but I understand the reason.

Shield / armor difference. Depends. Droneships can make up for it. I roll armor. its the small difference between the damage and usefulnuess of low slots. Shield tanks have less medium slots. SO its balanced.
Shields used more = tru. Coming from incursions - you need fast DPS, not tank that much.
