I'm quite new to this game and got some questions...
Reading the Tech Chart I noticed that I must not fly a Hathor with my Freelancer ID. The tech - topic from "The Order" states clearly that they will never allow that....
Somehow I don't see how this is fair and it honestly doesnt make any sense. I would like to enjoy the game the way I want and not by working for a faction and restricting myself that way. RP'ing is cool and makes alot of fun, but please let me decide which ship I want to fly...
Some parts of the Tech Chart are okay and easy to understand. Mixing Nomad - weapons with normal ships or AI - Tech with something. That is totally okay, but how is it possible to restrict ships and weapons? My crew could simply steal one or buy it from a friendly captain...
There are so many possible ways to explain how my crew managed to gain control over the ship... they are retired members of "The Order" who split because they dislike the internal orders and rather want to discover the universe...
Since I'm new I was unsure which boat would be good and quite a few have told me to go for the Harthor... from reading the Wiki and forum it looks like a good investment. So please let me play freelancer as Freelancer... the way I want it to play. Inclusive RP, background story, crew and everything else...
//Sorry for my bad english. It's not my native language.
Get a Mercenary ID instead. It's nearly identical, but is white-celled to the Order.
That way, all you need to do is get permission from the Order| faction to use the Gunboat. Tech Deals can be made inRP or ooRP.
Edit: Keep in mind that the Order is, to a certain degree, far more visible and hated than they were in vanilla Freelancer. Everyone has enemies, and people are often suspicious of outsiders.
Edit 2: Your English is actually fairly decent.
Edit 3: You wouldn't be the first person to question how the tech chart operates. There are a number of people who feel the rules are to strict in that regard. I'm still undecided on the matter.
Quote:Be aware that the Order generally does not give out technology to Freelancers or Mercenaries.
So that is fair now? Even if they gave me permission they would most likely cripple it by rules like:
Do not shoot in the XYZ sector, dont attack XYZ and all theyr friends (Like if I would know all... lol)
What do you want to tell me with your first edit?... I would have no problem with offering my service to the Order as well. Everyone needs a helping hand once.
Thank you.
Like I said. Some parts / rules make sense but... eh.
On the Order thing. Note that almost everybody hates the Order now. Don't expect to freely fly around in an Order ship without getting questioned/shot at by House Police and Militaries.
Also, the idea here is that we want to keep it as real as possible. We want realism (lol) on our sever.
You can't just go get a ship without the other guy's permission.
In real life you can't just run over and get a Police Car and say "Oh, I stole it." to a Police Officer without expecting him to shoot you.
You can't get a Police Car in the first place because you're a civilian, not a police officer. Go figure.
You can't just buy a weapon you want from a "friendly captain" because then the "friendly captain" would be court martialed for giving away military weapons.
In real life you can't buy a Rocket Launcher (I don't know, maybe some countries allow that, but not in my country) from a Soldier friend because both of you would be breaking the law and both of you would get into deep trouble. Go figure.
Assuming you "stole" Order weapons, the Order's not gonna like you anyway.
Assuming you "bought them from a Friendly Captain", you HAVE to ask permission first, right?
Freelancer doesn't mean you can do what you want. If so, I can go off and ask the nearby Police department for a Police Car and a taser gun and perform vigilante justice on gangsters roaming the street. All while saying "I'm a Freelancer".
Its the realism (lol) factor. Its part of RP (lolol). Deal with it or ask permission.

Blablabla not reading the rest of your text,...
No. You don't just "steal" stuff from a base or a "friendly" Order agent for that case, who happens to think it might had been a good idea to hand out Order tech (or whatever factions tech for that matter) to you because "you know him".
*Hey, look at this shiny Abrams tank, I'm going to steal it and roam around the streets of xyz-town and nobody will take any actions on me because I'll fight for the greater good of nation abc*
No.
Get used to play with the toys you're able to play with.

Oh, we're sorry you don't like the way things are done here. Please take a number and take a seat, the next available employee of our complaints office will happily ignore your complaint.
People steal tanks often enough, we're always seeing footage of some crazy dude flying down the interstate in a tank. That right there poves your point invalid. Just because it doesn't fit YOUR version of things doesn't mean it's not within the realm of possibility. Also, whether you like what he said or not, he's got a right to his view and to state it. No need to be a douche to him over it.

...
Don't you tell me about manners, Snak. It's always the same questions, and always the same kind of stuff. And hey, that's something that'd have been easily resolved by actually asking an Order| player ingame about that.
And look, that could've even been done inRP. More IG-encounters for everyone.
If you really have your heart set on a Hathor then take Echo's advice and give it a shot. Maybe they'll give you permission, maybe they won't, but you have to be in it to win it.
Regardless of what you decide though, you still have to follow the rules. Sometimes they are annoying but on the whole they improve the experience on the server.
