And I hate the MW (though I'm being hypocrytical and I have all of them) for one reason. MW represents gaming going mainstream...just some 7-8 years ago my father was going medieval on my arse about me speding time playing video games, yesterday he proudly declared that he'll buy MW 3 so he can play on my computer back home...
' Wrote:Your all forgetting that this is actually great publicity for the MW3 developer\producer - theyve got to be damn proud of themselves.
Now they can brag saying they won the battle with EA\BF3 - no one stole 6k copies of that game, did they?
Add to the fact that MW3 so oversold BF3 that its insane.
So yeah, great publicity for the developer - lousy for the producers.
From what I understand there is a slight logistical difference.
Battlefield 3 copies came in smaller batches, harder to steal in bulk, easier to keep a track of.
Modern Warfare 3 was like a logistical Zerg rush, easy to lose things since you'd get literally hundreds dropped on a single store only expecting to sell maybe 200 copies in a few days, not 600.
Nintendo is devious as hell since they 'ration' their stock, making it VERY desirable and wanted, thus prices can be pushed up.
[color=#FFFFFF]Zerg rushing as you put it is the way to sell mediocre games to the masses. A recent example; Dragon Age 2. An absolute disgrace but so overhyped it sold more copies from pre-orders, first week zerg rushing and paid magazine reviews than it did in the subsequent month. But here go te opportunists countering the zerg rush with a siege tank
