Some commodities can be priced at less than $10. I'm not absolutely certain, but in these cases I think it would be safe to reduce them to $1.
I think the price reduction would be good for balance even now, as it would make missions more worthwhile. But then the prices of VHF compared to larger freighters would have to be more balanced too. Some ship prices would have to change in relation to others.
If this is ever done, one other thing I'd like to see is mineable commodities (e.g. gold, niobium, water, scrap metal) given less of a reduction, so that mining becomes worthwhile. At the moment it's one aspect of Freelancer that isn't really a worthwhile option as it takes too long.

It's OK, they are talking about normal engine speed, not thrust or cruise. Battleships don't have thrusters, but fighters do. A thrusting fighter would still be faster than a battleship at normal speed.
I think 100 sounds good, but nothing higher as it would be too fast in relation to thrust.

Yeah 100-120 speed would be pretty good for 3 reasons:
1). You can navigate through asteroid fields without using cruise and running into something every 2 seconds.
2). 80 speed is too slow if you cant use thrusters to get places.
3). Fighters have too many advantages against battleships: speed, manuverability, and size. with higher speeds fighters cant jjust fly around a battleship using thrusters while the battleship only does mediocre damage.
You don't understand. Fighters are supposed to be able to thrust around a battleship while only taking mediocre damage. If they couldn't there'd be no point of being one.
I think the codenamed guns and nomad weapons are bad enough! You don't need to slap on battleship weapons!
Let's be realistic here! How would a fighter mount ONE cap ship turret, much less 6? It's impossible! Cap ship guns (Gunboats included) should take enormous ammounts of energy to use, but the battleship, destroyer, and gunships can use their class of guns and below without problem. Why? Because the GUNSHIP weapons were made for the GUNSHIP. The DESTROYER or CRUISER weapons were made for the DESTROYER or CRUISER. BATTLESHIP turrets are for BATTLESHIPS only! How would a civilian ship be able to mount even gunship weapons, much less anything else? For that matter, how can ANY ship short of a gunship mount gunship weapons?
Battleships can mount anything. Cruiser/Destroyers can mount anything BUT battleship weapons. Gunships can mount anything BUT cruiser/destroyer and battleship weapons. Anything else can't mount the gunship, cruiser/destroyer, or battleship guns because they can't supply enough power.
*Whew!* Ok, rant-mode off.
