codenames are - and have always been - free for all... much like most of the weapons that have been perceived as free for all

- CAU / AU8 free for all - even if it was order only
- train CDs - free for all, even if they are hessian
- cerberus - free for all - even if they re rheinlandish
- razor - free for all - even if bretonian ( i think )
etc.

you don t need to "ask" anyone to mount them these days - so they are "green" - and "green" means no nerf

Means

I can't mount firekisses (1050 damage) on my hessian Odin without suffering energy regen nerf.

..But I can mount heimdalls (1390 damage) on it, and it's all fine and dandy.

Right?

What about ships with different IDs than their creators?

Or say, special OPs IDs?

What about factions like the Unioners, who have the ID permission to use GBs (On guard ID), but lack a personal gunboat?

Or the fact we have SRP'd flagships (One of them is Alsterblut) that actually use our own Guard IDs, instead of SRP ID. Does that mean they'll be useless because their powercore will be nerfed beyond repair?

in short :

you can use a GB, but you don t build one? - you ll have to borrow a design - and it won t be as good as if it was your own ... UNLESS it is technically "green" to your faction.

flagship :

we just assume that you have a flagship for RP purpose - and it will indeed suffer from incompatibilities.

so as i said before, you ll draw the short stick. - but you ll do it in favour of others who were not as fortunate as you were to get a SRP ( but just as much reason ) - who can now also try to create a flagship - even at a reduced efficiency.






also - again - cause discovery is so much driven by fear and panic:

- just cause its not compatible doesn t mean its useless!
- it means it is probably worse than a puretech setup
- so - yes... a rheinland military IFFed, IDed and equipped rheinland battleship IS better than a Unioners IFFed, IDed and equipped rheinland battleship.

and i must say - that is quite logical.


edit:

before ppl start to panic: - we haven t said how much the efficiency will be nerft!! - maybe its just 0.00002% - and you won t feel a thing. maybe its 90% - and that would be a good reason to complain. - but the point is - no one knows yet. - and if you ll never even see the formula or the numbers, i daresay - much of it comes down to "feeling" - and some ppl won t even notice a difference.

How will these new changes affect certain "invite" factions such as the Colonial Remnent, Keepers, SCRA, Hellfire?

For example: Currently, any new character starts off as hostile to Nomads and Coalition. Therefore, technology cannot be simply stolen by a new character.

Speaking from my SCRA standpoint, we have no tech permissions granted to anyone non-SCRA.

i think i already stated that you ll need the tech permission anyway....

... so you cannot just go around and "steal" things. - you must have the parent faction of the tech you mount on your ship to officially agree with it! - if they disagree, you are still violating the rules... .

and if you are technically not able to buy the stuff - whats the point then anyway. - unless you RP that this tech is traded player to player.

- these measures only make it possible to mount any mix of gear. - but it does not mean that you can do what you want, - it is a multiplayer game - you have to gain permission.

in clear words:

- no, you cannot take a rogue ID, buy a lib DN, mount nomad weapons on it and say "i stole it" - cause the official factions who OWN that stuff will come down on you like a ton of bricks.

but you CAN do it when you talked to all those factions and they AGREED with you. - in that case ... you might realize that things like "invite only gear and "cannot rep up to them" ... is of little concern - cause if they agree with you, they can buy it FOR you ... ( except fighters - but well.. nothing is perfect hehe )
