... so you cannot just go around and "steal" things. - you must have the parent faction of the tech you mount on your ship to officially agree with it! - if they disagree, you are still violating the rules... .
and if you are technically not able to buy the stuff - whats the point then anyway. - unless you RP that this tech is traded player to player.
- these measures only make it possible to mount any mix of gear. - but it does not mean that you can do what you want, - it is a multiplayer game - you have to gain permission.
in clear words:
- no, you cannot take a rogue ID, buy a lib DN, mount nomad weapons on it and say "i stole it" - cause the official factions who OWN that stuff will come down on you like a ton of bricks.
but you CAN do it when you talked to all those factions and they AGREED with you. - in that case ... you might realize that things like "invite only gear and "cannot rep up to them" ... is of little concern - cause if they agree with you, they can buy it FOR you ... ( except fighters - but well.. nothing is perfect hehe )
Means
I don't need an admin approval of my natter titan. I only need to suck up to both faction leaders, right?
Aha, okay. Thank God, I have both Espi and Blodo in my contacts list. Skype friendships ftw
... in a sarcastic tone "skype friendship for the win" indeed. - not like its any different now ( much ).
we do hope - that any decision is made on the basis of the two venerated letters in the server title "RP".
the credo of the server is not "cause i can" - but "cause it is good roleplay".
edit:
to be serious, shadowdancer.... if your characters roleplay indeed REQUIRES a titan with natter guns - and you achieve both parent factions to agree with that necessity.... who are we to judge your roleplay? - we are just the ones that say "these things are not compatible, you will suffer some kind of nerf - but we trust that you did it all cause you want to roleplay and not cause you want to gain a pvp advantage"
edit2:
that must not look like i m actually advertising that concept. - i do think it is a very good idea - and support it .... i think it ll need to be finetuned to be fair for everyone. - i am also sure that it cannot prevent players from getting advantages over other players.
there are many doubts about it - but also many gains. - one major gain is that we allow any combination - no matter how rediculous ... we are also aware that the disco community isn t all about serious roleplay all the time, some ppl just want to mess with others.
but all in all - it is better to have a choice at a cost - than having no choice at all.
i think the topic of IDs and mismatch nerfs can be dropped now - everything has been said.
if someone has not been said about it yet - it is cause it hasn t been decided yet. - i DO expect players NOT to look forward to such a change fearful that they might loose an advantage - but to trust it - and check it out entirely before talking it down.
the entire dev work needs daring steps to really change things. - sometimes - a step might be wrong. - but you ll never know when you don t dare to take it. - we want changes - and that means we have to take risks.
