I actually had a long response to this typed out, and deleted it, simply because any response in that tone would be hypocritical of me.
Why?
Because I have downloaded movies and other things (about 100GB of pron) myself. I prefer to buy them, so that the author of the copyrighted materials gets paid for their creative works - but seriously, whoever decided to make Idiocracy deserves to NEVER be paid for anything again.

I for one enjoy living in the middle ages when people enjoyed the pseudo freedom under the caring hand of God. Internet is evil and it should be purged, if it can't be used for spying on people it shouldn't be used for anything. A-****ing-men
I just found out that a congressman will attempt to filibuster this by reading out the names of everyone who ever signed a petition in regards to SOPA/Protect IP. Good on you congressman, good on you.
If somebody makes an art to make money, he's not an artist and it's not an art and he doesn't deserve to get paid. Real artists make art because they want to.

^ this.
A true artist makes art not to profit from it, but because he has a uncontrollable urge to do so. They expect neither recognition or admiration, only to express what they feel and finely tune their skills on a medium.

I'm sorry, but that's terrible reasoning. If you put three years into writing a manuscript for a story and finally manage to get it published, you'd sure as hell want to get paid for it. If the agency/publisher turned around and told you that they weren't going to give you a penny because you shouldn't be looking for payment, you'd flip the hell out.
For profession artists, their work is their livelihood. I'm dead set against this SOPA bill, but that line of argument is horrid.
