[font=Comic Sans Ms]I always thought they accompanied "special" characters and factions, you know, phooms, necrosis, wilde...most of the screens I've seen with the mentioned exclamations accompany pictures of the above blowing up others.

Not calling conspiracy. Just what I've personally observed.
