Professor Moriarty is trying to start a world war in order to profit on his newly acquired European factories of medical and military supplies.

The whole movie doesn't feel like Sherlock at all, it feels like another action movie, which has elements of Sherlock Holmes in it, too much senseless action. The movie completely lost its crime mystery and became another Hollywood shooter. The gay jokes really didn't go with the atmosphere of this motion picture. The film is watchable, by no means I will declare it a bad one, but the first Sherlock was much, much better. If the third part will come out, I suspect it to be a piece of crap movie.

I give it 7 out of 10.

I'd be a little bit less negative towards it.
Yes it has more action in it but it is also a 2 hour (or so) long film. Hard to keep the tension going for 2 hours without some extra action involved.
All in all, I liked the general web of intrigue that was slowly formed, coupled with the relationship between Holmes and his buddy.

8.5/10 for me, it wasn't all encompassingly amazing but it was a very fun film to watch and it's still in my head over a week later.

I'm looking forward to it. I "get" the type of movie it is & watching the first one was a blast:cool:

Mack, if I may offer some advice?

Don't think of it as a 'Sherlock Holmes' movie per se, but more like a 'Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes' movie.

Besides, since this movie is a sequel, everyone already knows exactly what to expect: a popcorn franchise flick. I'm going in expecting exactly that & I'll most likely enjoy the hell out of it for exactly that reason.

Marburg, I understand what you are saying, but in Russian Sherlock Holmes was portrayed a little differently and, since, I was raised there, I can't help put two together.
(In Russia, We investigate Sherlock, you know...:) )

Love the humor, action was mighty fine, too. 9/10
