Damnit, I'm gonna miss you, Doug. You were always one of the best things about this community when I could still play, and one of the fondest memories of my early time here. You rock the boat wherever you are, old man, and wherever that is will take it and like it because it's a better place having you.
Bah, there aren't good words to write what I feel.

Wow ... been a long time since I've been on the forums. This was a big shock to me to know that Mal and Bear have passed on. I used to go by Archelon (Morgan the Red) here on the forums. Joined way back in 2007 (4 years + now). I created a tribal based faction called the Nayehiya. Some of you may remember this faction. Most probably won't.
Anyway, Mal was the first to sign up as a member of the Nayehiya. I think he was the only person here on Disco that really understood my passion. He encouraged my role play with the Nayehiya. And his newly created TAZ faction at the time played a huge part in the life and death of the Nayehiya. Check the links below for some of our role play together. Mal was a truly valuable person. I'm gonna miss him dearly. In many of the posts you'll notice that Mal had many forum names. I don't think he'll mind me sharing them now. Some include Malaclypse 666, Ophiuchi, and The Waverlys.
I didn't know Bear that well. But of the admins/moderators, I think I liked him best. He was never rude to me. He was very patient with me. Many of you know that I can be a royal pain in the arse (not joking either). I think he's sanctioned one or two of my characters before too. Ah well.
Mal, you were a mentor, a guide and a friend. You are sorely missed by all who knew you here at Disco I'm sure. Words are shallow, so I hope enough emotion drags itself through the internet to make up for this.
A pleasure and an honor to know you. Rest in peace friend.
Wow. I rarely log in, so I got a PM Mal sent in October just a few days ago and responded to it. I logged back in to see if he'd answered, piddled around in the news section to look at the 4.86 stuff, and see this.
I'm floored. He was one of, if not the, first Disco Buddy of mine. I flew around with him as a Gaian for awhile before joining the TAZ...I'll never forget the fun we'd have in our convoys, in Skype, and here. Fond memories.
23's, Episkoperson. Bafflin' - and Earth - are lesser places without you.
I only met Mal in the most passing of ways, reading a few posts he made. I always found them a fine read. When I finally came back a few days ago, I learned we had lost both he and Bear. I felt badly that I had not taken the time to engage him and get to know him.
So I spent the last 2 hours reading each post here. I feel I've lost a genuine opportunity to know someone special. And yet, at the same time, I feel inspired to live a more full life, and to be somewhat like this brilliant personality we have all gathered around. I know him now through what you all have shared. Thank you.
-Alexander plants a silver and gold sword under an apple tree. From this spot, a briar of silver vines springs, curling and weaving together. On them, silver leaves with light gold veins sprout, and small golden fruits bud all over. The vines crawl about the ground, and encircle the tree. Slowly they creep just a few feet up the trunk, and the apples there turn a soft, glowing gold.-
This image is how I choose to convey my feeling, and offer memorial.
Be well, cherished elder. Mal. Doug. Friend.

(I will be taking time to read through the thread for Bear as well, once I have the energy.)
