Honestly I don't care about ship balance. I'm terrible at PvP but I've played this game for almost a decade, long enough to know that ship stats have very little to do with a ship's combat potential. Ships will always be as good or as bad as the pilots who fly them and stats don't really mean so much.
The Pirate transport is good, sure, but if it's so good then why are people flying Bombers and Gunboats instead? They're doing it because you make more money by charging taxes than you do from pirating cargo. You don't make money as a cargo pirate unless you have a neutral trader to haul the freight for you, which makes the pirate transport useless since it shouldn't be docking on lawful bases anyway.
The pirate transport will always be a useless ship regardless of it's stats. Developers need to add more sell points for unlawful groups so that pirates can actually trade beyond smuggling a handful of commodities.
The question of ship balance shouldn't be about stats. It should be about whether or not this ship does what it was designed to do. The pirate transport is great for killing traders, but it's still useless because most of your commodities aren't worth anything on unlawful bases. If the pirate transport is so good then why are people using Bombers and Gunboats for piracy instead?
The thing is, pirates now DO have places they can sell most loot for a good amount. Its just as profitable, just higher per-unit prices instead of a bunch of random stuff.
As for why people use gunboats or bombers? Simple, bombers can ream anything but fighters. Gunboats also are generally tougher than the traders they prey on. It really comes down to the pirates not wanting to actually have a challenge and expect to be handed goods or credits without a fight. And for a long time this was how it ws becuase all lawful transports dident have teeth. Now with the battletransports convoys are actually dangerous.

Quote:Sorry but if you can make Battleship in less then a week after you join here with the proper trading we will see only tons of cap ships in next month- since I encounter that every second that is in-game is new. I don't really like that mind-set.
Quote:Even if you doubled the prices of battleships and brought back guard IDs, lolwuts could still get battleships. There's no sense in punishing the well-behaved playerbase with anti-lolwut measures because it just ends up making everyone angry.
Yes, I did respond. You did not read.

I don't need to report any trade route- they are obvious- 90% of the new commodities routes are a way more profitable of what they should be- all are over 180 cr/second and at least the half are over 190cr/s.
What exactly is the problem with new players getting the shiny battleship they always wanted to try, which looks cool and with which they can play a battleshipcaptain in the first place? Big ships to pilot are the big difference here compared to original Freelancer, is it really that surprising that people want to fly them when they are new? A big battleship is nice, makes fun to play... and if someone acts like a total idiot and violates rules, you can always talk with him or report him.
Anyway, in my experience a new player and an experienced player - if they are "lolwuts" - will start shooting you anwyway... with the difference, that the experienced player will come up with some fancy explanation why it was in his right to do what he did.
On top of that... does it really matter if someone gets a BS 2 weeks earlier or later? Sooner or later the BS will be bought .... and until that is the case, most people wanting to get one are pretty determined to get one... and no, they wont have fun or give fun when being pirated. Because for them the pirate is the guy who makes them waste real life time and effort to get the battleship he wants.
Its nice for the old school players here to bitch about new ones getting battleships when you most likely have or have had your battleships for years/years ago.

Might as well just let people get whatever they want.
The other problem is that there's no real money sink in the game if you're not buying new ships.
Solution:
Make dying cost money. Need to spend 25-50% of the value of the ship and all equipment after dying before you can fly the ship again.
No.

Why does being a new player need to be a grind? Why does there need to be a money penalty to sink cash? This is an RP server. People are here to make stories about fictional characters in a fictional universe. Perhaps not everyone is playing on RP 24/7 to do that, but those people might need to rethink their priorities.

I agree, get rid of money in Discovery.

Just no, just no.
Why I hear you asking. Because there are players who spend more time on characters that have a high risk of dyeing then they spend on any trader, and even when they do they love to rp with pirates that rp. Doing that would make it harder for those players who only trade to upkeep equipment costs, or buy a ship they fancy trying out, or another ship for an existing character. That wouldn't be great, nor nice to those players who prefer to roleplay then trading for hours at a time.
