' Wrote:Why would a socialist organization target luxury goods? I really shouldn't have to explain that one to you. Then again you folk have teamed up with the biggest capitalists in Sirius, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised that I may have to explain it to you. Either way, thanks for answering the questions.
Exactly. We wouldn't, just as we wouldn't target Tea, so I fail to see why you would use that as an example in the first place. For your next point, believe me if I had my way we wouldn't have any relationship with the IND, but that agreement is far older then the time I've been on Discovery and Alvin disagree's so not much I can do there unfortunately. *Shrugs*

I hope that is sarcasm, either way, the IND/SCRA thing goes back to Koolmo, so don't blame Alvin, he's too nice for that.
Sarcasm on the first point or second? As I'm sure I didn't intend to sound sarcastic in either.
I don't blame Alvin at all and I know he's a nice guy, but since he's the CO he still has the final word, and as such we will not be breaking our ties to the IND at this time, no matter how much I dislike the fact that we are indeed friends with the biggest capitalists in Sirius. Still, it's not like I'm hellbent on breaking ties with the IND, it's just one of those things I didn't think made much sense.

I was thinking you were being sarcastic about the Luxury goods point. I still hope you were.
Superfactions.
lawl.
Anyhow dusty, the problem Govedo has with the SCRA ID has nothing to do with contraband.
Rather it's the selective reading and a certain interpretation that turns
Quote:- Can demand contraband, levy fines, and destroy ships if they refuse to comply with contraband demands, refuse to cooperate or are affiliated with a group at war with the Coalition.
into
Quote:- Can.... destroy ships if they..... are affiliated with a group at war with the Coalition.
Added onto an stripping of the protections of civilians from SCRA.
Moreover, what makes that super scary is the organization.
A pirate is no big deal.
A gang of pirates is scary.
A military gunning for traders with no need to demand is supersuper scary and what Govedo here fears.
And, as Disco has proven time and time again, what can be abused will be.
End of story.
If they promise not to do it, then why should they have the ability to do it anyways?
That and...you know.
Sirius Cops for Regulating All.
EDIT: Just what is a shiop affiliated with a group at war?
Bowex cuse the BAF is at war with the SCRA? Or a ship part of a faction that has actively declared war?
And does that clause negate the normal rules for shooting transports?
gone four years, first day back: Zoners still getting shot in Theta :|

Ah, you meant in regards to that, I thought you were referring to that post I made after that one. Yes, I was being sarcastic and I was using Luxury Goods as an example that was similar to your example of Tea. It would indeed make no sense for a socialist organization to demand either Luxury Goods, Tea, or whatever other household commodity a house would need, and I'm glad you agree.
I've made my points as to why we should be able to demand Artifacts and any further argument would just involve saying the same points but in a different way. So I end this here.

What? Uggggggg. See I thought you were flirting with me, I dont anymore.
Guess I do have to explain it.
Well, the luxury goods are the food of the bourgeoisie. The idea of which is the opiate of the proletariat. It represents the opposite of everything the People's revolution stands for. Luxury goods motivate the worker to reach for riches for themselves, forgoing the good of the people for their own selfish ends.
You see, it actually makes more sense for the SCRA to target Luxury Goods than it does for the SCRA to target artifacts.
