Well, i'v mounted 2x pulses on my osiris + mortar when 4.86 came out, but since I'm not really a big fan of capitals i didn't tested it yet. Must be an infinite battle maker when 2 lights will come against each others with such setups.
I doubt it will work Curios as both pulses and mortars are to easy to dodge at 3k, hell, RM battleships are doing it against LN dreads so I doubt mako or lib dread won't be able to do it against osiris.
You can only hit with those if enemy BS is not dueling you, but alright, not many osiris vs mako battles have actually happened, so ossie might not be so weak after all.
Edit: Jeremy what are you tripin about flying Thebes dreadnought, there is absolutely no chances Order ever gets such capital, as there is no reasons to have one.
' Wrote:Not tried new Osiris in fight yet so can't say. Previews Osiris wasn't really OP, was underused before the good tactic for it was found, but after that no one actually bothered to find a tactic to counter it. But instead the whines concerning it's OPeness were rising around like a mushrooms.
It's general tendency which no longer surprises anyone who is lurking around in this server for some time and is cursed with some intelligence.

My point is, if the Osiris is a support battleship, wtf is it to support?
So, if Osiris is a support BS, then we'd need a Flyable Thebes to offset it. Because Support BS dies to frontline full combat battleships:mellow:
Im not trippin', I know we'd never get a flyable <strike>Gaian Battlesh</strike> Thebes. But if our frontline heavy hitter turns to a support ship, then where is our heavy ship to get supported?
Hope I cleared up my point. Reshephs and Gebs are suppose to be support for the Osiris. Having all our caps turned to support vessels kinda makes no sense.
' Wrote:Oh, and those pulse cannons are surprisingly effective against bombers, firing a salvo towards one making a run at you usually makes at least one hit, which means shields gone. Follow up with flaks and secondaries for maximum effect.
Just that. Hit a bomber with pulse.
Okey. 800 m/s even Snipe with razor need training. Razor are 1600 m/s. Bomber can even dodge while firing at cap since it's a huge target. Try to place one of it is a miracle or a good training but a really good one. But indeed if you deshield it and he is dumb enough to continue yes it's good...

Well. I'd like to +1 that since i never saw someone trying to puls the bomber.
Sorry but, none of you are thinking of the Osiris in its proper role. It IS a support battleship, because it's meant to fight as part of a fleet. It is not THE fleet. It adds damage to support Bomber Wings, it is not meant to solo-kill things as you all seem hellbent on doing.
No wonder so many people are complaining about the Osiris, most still think it's some kind of Solo Operator.
' Wrote:You do realize the power of battleship pulses against other capitals lies within their enormous range? And that you can mount them on class 9 slots and don't have to sacrifice your heavy ones for it?
Add to that that they had a slight alteration in their stats I believe... Calculating.
Pulse does 0.176 shield damage for power. 4 of these will start to tap a battleship's power core, meaning you're not wasting power while using a single weapons group to strip your target's shield. It fires every 2 seconds, leaving you with significant damage in a single blast. With 4 BS pulse guns, you can strip a gunboat shield in a single shot, a cruiser shield in 2 shots. Gunboat snipe with pulse/razor for poetic justice, anyone?
Basic Primary does 0.143 shield damage for power (half the hull damage it does). It fires short bursts, giving your opponent time to respond to your attacks. You need all 4 to start tapping most battleship's power regeneration.
Mortar (Standard, heavy is worse) does 0.117 shield damage for power (half the hull damage it does). A single mortar taps a light battleship core. A heavy one taps any core, alone.
Cerberus does 0.205 shield damage for power (half the hull damage it does - this is a very efficient gun). You need 3 to start overwhelming power regeneration though, and these are not very good at range due to shot dispersion.
So no, the pulses aren't all that bad, IF you go for range. If your game is short range slugging, find a ship that can mount a ton of Cerbies and use those exclusively. I'd suggest a Legate for that.

I agree on that. Additionally if you pls add class 10 and class 9 turrets in individual access it will be better.
