The problem being - you demand and then take by force from non-combatants, because you feel your society is more deserving, and are convinced of that fact. If you met a freighter captain barely making ends meet, no doubt his struggling doesn't mean a damn to you - and widowing his wife and orphaning his kids would make a corsair laugh. So yeah, i see a problem with that.
As for the SCRA - the point of our RP is that while we believe our goals are noble, we go about it in twisted ways. It's unfortunate, but it reinforces that there is no good guys in sirius - and in war, no side is just, because war makes monsters of everyone.
As for "killing for sport" - that sounds like your speaking from a corsair perspective again. Were a military at war with military targets. That includes the corsairs, who are, in essence, a military\warrior society.
We do not, and will not shoot people who aren't military targets.
' Wrote:Dane, just because you didn't understand me the first time I'll say it again: we don't want to rule anything and we never "invaded" anything, it's the other way around. SCRA wants to rule a Communist Sirius and SCRA is running all over the place killing people. All we want is a normal society, economy and life. We have been deprived from all the luxuries of the other houses, like food, water, technology and stuff like that and we're fighting for our people, all of them.
I'll admit looking at things from rose-tinted faction glasses, but only if you will.
The corsairs may have begun as a nation of starving orphans - but thats not what they are now - they are brutal, selfish, racist warrior society, completely unconcerned with anyone but themselves.
If given the option of ruling Rheinland, I have no doubt they would do so, only because they would see themselves as better rulers then the inherent rheinland government - at which point Stuttgart would have the majority of its food sent to crete, and the rheinland working class given over to make corsair tools of war, so as to keep there gains.
So no, I dont buy the "poor abused starving orphans" act for a minute, and no matter how many times you try to sell that particular lame story, it doesn't get any more true.

*shrug* most likely - not the argument im trying to make. I'm explaining why the corsairs are a self-centered, savage, racist society full of murderers and people who take by force.
As opposed to a government whose goal is to destroy the current accepted governments, and build anew in there own vision of what they feel is right - does that mean it will be? I doubt it.
Oh yeah, and as for the tech argument - I hear lots of corsairs saying they should have hogosha raba's.

Rhade looked at the waitress and smiled.
"It'd be appreciated."
The Waitress nodded and walked away, no doubt going to fetch some Vodka.
"Alissa, here's how Nerve Stapling works. It's basically an implant which can electrocute you at the whim of a Commissar. It guarantee's loyaly, and it can kill you, my dear. I would know, considering I helped invent it for the SCUD Wing." Rhade sighed.[/quote]

Dozens of engines lit as Coalition ships across the planet went to full emergency power, as with a blinding flash, the two Typhoon Destroyers launched a pair of massive antimatter torpedoes into the unprotected spaceport far below. Gouts of blazing earth and metal blazed as the Coalition fleet fell into formation around the desperatly fleeing transports. As they did, the Fighters of Gold Wing detached, and raced in on the Zoner fleet, blazing away at their fighters.

Vladimir emitted a bored sigh, running his hand over his face, he spoke to McKinley in a flat and dismissive tone.
"Enjoy the fight against yourself, Patrick." Vladimir pulled the pistol from the desk, with little grace or patience, and fired straight through McKinley's forehead, a clean shot; instantly leaving the man dead.
From outside the interviewing office, two leaving and a third behind with the sound of a gunshot, Alicia knew better than to waste anymore time, she quickly beckoned David and Jared towards the office where the noise had came from.

He headed back to where the recruit was laying, in a puddle of his own blood - still apparently breathing.
"Recruitment denied."
*CLICK*, BANG, *CLICK*, BANG, *CLICK*, BANG
Vladimir riddled the recruit full of holes from the shotgun, blowing off both arms, legs and the boys head.
"Seal the door and switch off the transmitter. That's enough. Ooh. My stomachs rumbling."
The only noise left in the waiting area was that of the Commissars belly rumbling.

Perhaps you should go read the Raba's infocard.
It's not a Hogosha ship.
It's the Corsair gunboat from 4.84 transformed into a transport.

The whole outsiders thing, the "racism", it's not that.
It's religious ancestor worship.
An outsider, someone not born and raised on Crete, within Cretian society, hearing the tales, someone who has not preformed the rite of passage into the Malvada cloud, someone who has not lived through the constant war and famine and battle, someone who's blood is not Ventru cannot understand, cannot appreciate the sacrifice, cannot appreciate the dire need, and is not worthy to have their descendants carry the Ventru name.
No Corsair would tell you that he believes a Rheinlander or an Outcast is any less proficient in battle, any less of a man, that he is beneath the Corsairs, is a beast, is not worthy of consideration or mercy, only that he is not Corsair, and never can be.
As for the rest of your post....
perhaps it is best responded to in a monologue.
........................................
Ezio stared out the port, carefully choosing his words, letting out the buried anger in his heart, his anger at the very fabric of the galaxy itself.
"Crete does not produce food. The few farmers that scratch the rock to eek out a living can barely feed themselves, much less a family, or a town.
Everything we eat, everything we drink and taste comes from a green world beyond, from Canaria, from Kusari, from Stuttgart and Cambridge, from worlds of plenty where weak-minded men who have never wanted, have never had to struggle, have never grown accustomed to the sounds of orbital bombardment, have never had to feel the gnawing pain of hunger for days on end frolick and study and farm in peace.
We do not have what we need to survive.
The only thing we truly have that they desire is illegal, reserved for the rich and the famous at exorbiant prices, bringing in but a trickle of credits.
It is not enough.
We have biodomes, technology bought, stolen, borrowed, given as gifts from allies, huge biodomes that produce food, farms such as no Corsair has ever seen before.
It is not enough, not nearly enough.
And there sits the trade lanes, opulent jewels of technology, ferrying rich transports full of luxurious goods, of food the likes of which no Corsair could imagine, and cargo and credits with which to barter.
And they laugh.
They call us scum, cowards, savages, barbarians, because we do not have enough, because our planet was not as blessed as their's were.
Do we not have as much a right to decent food as them?
Do we not have as much a right to life as they do?
Do they deserve all their have, given to them, not by their own cunning or skill, but by the beautiful emerald green planets upon which they tread?
Does our planet's lack truly doom us to die slowly over the ages, starving on a grey red rock underneath a bloated red sun that boils our cells as much as it's heat keeps us alive, a dying culture of a dying people in a dying system?
No, Dane, it does not.
And yet what we do have are metals, and skill, and strength, and a burning will to do what we must, a fiery drive to do whatever it takes to survive.
We have ships with which to fight, men with which to pirate, weapons with which to kill.
And we will survive, Dane.
No matter the cost to our souls, to our minds, to our bodies, we are Corsairs, and the sacrifice of the Ventru runs deep, ever present in our very blood.
It would be the deepest honour to give as much as they, of soul and mind and body.
So we pirate.
We take what we need.
And God can take the rest."

Thanks for proving my point Dusty - I dont mind being critical of my own faction - no one is perfect.
But all I hear from the corsairs is one sided rainbow sunshine arguments about how they have no flaws, and how its always someone else's fault.

To be honest, the Council of Elders isn't corrupt - it's the purest that the particular form of government that runs Crete is going to get. On the other hand, it his a horrible oligarchy. That's what you should be protesting about inRP, really.
Overall, looking at the SCRA's RP past and present, I'd say the SCRA ranks considerably worse than the Corsairs on the evil scale, though.
btw Bindo, I missed the massive addition to your last post - sorry, I wouldve responded to it - didnt mean to diminish it any way by missing it (bow)
In any case - I can give you both my inrp and oorp appraisal of the Coalition and the SCRA - Do I consider them evil? No more so then any of the other houses in Sirius - every house is corrupt, whether by corporate ownership of the government, harsh restrictive sexist class systems, oppressive monarchies with no human rights, and pseudo-religious theocratic godheads.
And lets not forget fanatic imperialistic dictatorship.
Add to that we have a nation built on slavery and drugs.
And a nation built on taking from the weak.
Then you have the Coalition - a nation whose is built on a legacy of imperialism, murder, and brutal conquest - enough so that Sirius is built on those who survived there war of terror.
The Coalition that exists NOW is one that, for starters, isnt communist (which most people dont understand) - is a government built on the ideals of social cooperation for a better economy - its military is one that is brutal, uncompromising, and, lets be honest, pretty harsh. Evil? yes, but war is inherently evil - no one is a saint in war.
What makes the Corsairs the good guys in sirius, when no one is?
