But all I hear from the corsairs is one sided rainbow sunshine arguments about how they have no flaws, and how its always someone else's fault.
ITT "rose tinted glasses discussion"
The point I was proving is that you're presenting a one sided rainbow sunshine argument in which you have no flaws, I'm simply providing evidence to the contrary.
Your posts are what I would expect from some kind of arpee brainwashed nutjob, not a general discussion chat.
As for the Corsairs, the biggest problem with them is that they "grew" up overnight. Your vanilla Corsairs are from a dustball which issues out raiding parties of uncertain organization to procure goods and services. While it's unlikely that their neighbors would harbor any interest in providing a fair deal for mutual cooperation (Rheinland in crippling debt, cannot currently manage their own nation and workforce, Bretonia primarily interested in observing exactly how much they can screw over the workers of the BMM and taking Dublin by force).
That and that Vito is doing the same thing as you by trying to force a hilarious Corsair empire of hollow eyed hermanos who must, alas, venture forth in order to procure just enough so that their rag doll child might have enough to stuff its gob with for another day. Also battleships.
But! The hilarious angle of this thread, which I regret being pulled away from last night, is that you and he are locked in this absurd spin cycle as you attempt to turn the other into more than they are whilst sitting back in your ivory tower shielding away no faults. Pulling a Karl Rove is all good and well on a larger platform but doesn't work very well in a more intimate setting such as this because we can directly access your statements and prove them unable to stand to examination.
This thread has descended into a complete farce.
Liar and hypocrite?
Name calling?
How old are we exactly?
' Wrote:Do you notice your hypocrisy? The Corsair factions arent raiding because they are inactive.
Really?
They look pretty active to me but don't take my word for it. I suggest people review the evidence and judge for themselves who is and who isn't telling the truth. http://discoverygc.com/server/activity_summary.html
' Wrote:By your inventive lies..... No I am simply calling you out on your lies.
I'd say that was the most inventive one yet.
' Wrote:...and be a hypocrite, just to get your way? You disgust me.
Mr Pot, or is it Kettle?
and talking of more hypocrisy:
' Wrote:Perhaps, but I don't believe that. Its a basic principal of human nature that those who find they can get whatever they want, will inevitably want more. You've already said that you have eyes for Cambridge and Stuttgart, and its accepted lore that the Corsairs are pushing further and further out from Gamma.
Face it, your imperialistic. I have no doubt that should you suddenly have everything you need, you will find other things that your lacking, and then take those by force.
But the SCRA describes its actions fairly graphically here:
' Wrote:After being defeated, losing the Sol system to our moral and military might, a small fraction of the Alliance's survivors attempted to flee... to Sirius. We, the ever-expanding Revolution, could not allow for simple Socialism in One Nation, so we pursued.
You pursued?
All of Sol not enough for your non-imperialistic politics?
Ever expanding revolution?
But of course, the corsairs are imperialistic and not an ever expanding revolution so thats ok isn't it...
Who is right I wonder...doesn't the actual faction know it's talking cobblers?
You'd think they knew what they were talking about wouldn't you eh?
How about:
' Wrote:The Coalition, with its tiny population in Sirius, took on the role of a partisan uprising across the sector, taking in deserters, defectors and anyone that would fight under their Communist ideology.
Didn't someone say the Coalition weren't Communists?
Whats changed in the last six months then?
Maybe they didn't and I 'invented' that one.
Theres a gold mine in that thread of course. I suggest you read it once in a while.
Furthermore...didn't someone say something like:
Quote:So the corsairs would never agree to be part of an idyllic society where everyone gets what they need to be content in there lives - unless that society was ruled by the corsairs. Makes there coexistance with the ultimate goal of the Coalition impossible.
Which is it?
Would they agree to an idyllic society or not?
Clearly they would as has been admitted in the above statement. One run by Corsairs. The same applies to the Coalition but in this case, they require it run by themselves. Whilst I don't see many corsairs denying this, I am at a loss as to why the Coaliton representative does so.
Now as the original thread was about ID's that have possible abuse written all over them and objections having been duely noted by the powers that be, I can't see for the life of me if there is anything further to discuss on the subject.
Should people wish to further discuss the position of the SCRA and Corsairs or any other group, why don't they start their own thread, specifically to do just that rather than derailing this one.

This is true.
With the system the corsairs have in place and how they operate, they are doing quite well for themselves off of piracy and the like.
But the continued state of doing quite well is completely dependent on having the credits and cargo to trade for food and the more estoceric bits of technology needed for shipbuilding (I believe Crete is quite rich in minerals and metals, at least enough for the Corsairs to support their own shipbuilding).

Gj Bindo. I love you but you don't know your lore.
All (at least most of) the Corsair ships are built from the scavenged parts of other ships, mostly Bretonian ones. Crete has some gold and a lot of useless rock, but it's otherwise pretty much inconsequential, aside from the CORSAIRCORSAIRCORSAIRs.

I would love to see some sourcing on that.
In the meantime i'll look for sourcing on mine.
EDIT:
But honestly, any planet able to support human life would almost certainly have to have large quantities of iron present in it, simply due to how planets form.

It's not that we change our ideologies, it's the way we interpret them that changes. We've gone from the insane and homicidal McIntosh to the more progressive and even tempered Katz (Relatively, anyway.) There are still the Hard-Liners in the SCRA he has to compromise with, which is why we're still fairly Militant. Such is the way of politics, and it keeps it interesting. A perception of a perfect united front from an outside perspective, and a divided, bickering Command from the inside. (In-RP, of course, OORP we get along perfectly the great majority of the time.)
We have a leader who used to solve all his problems with violence, and then there's one who thinks forward, and is more open to diplomacy.
[1/14/2012 8:34:05 AM] Espada: "Which is what exactly!? Have dinner with them!? Let's see you be more vague, explain Katz's New Economic policy why it is a tool of economic warfare." (y)
[1/14/2012 8:54:25 AM] Alvin: the New Economic Policy?
[1/14/2012 8:54:31 AM] Alvin: it fuels our warmachine
[1/14/2012 8:54:37 AM] Alvin: boosts our peoples morale
[1/14/2012 8:54:44 AM] Alvin: and shows all that Communism can work
[1/14/2012 8:55:15 AM] Terrance Cooper: (nerd)
[1/14/2012 8:55:28 AM] Terrance Cooper: Alvin (hug)
[1/14/2012 8:56:50 AM] Alvin: we have never persecuted the pursuit of profit
[1/14/2012 8:56:53 AM] Alvin: in fact we commend it
[1/14/2012 8:57:07 AM] Alvin: it is the pursuit of that wealth at the exploitation of others
[1/14/2012 8:57:13 AM] Alvin: that we harshly object to
[1/14/2012 8:57:16 AM] Alvin: and will grind out
We're actually an interesting mix of a number of ideologies, which I'm not going to get into, mostly because I don't know how to explain it nearly half a well as say, Alvin can.
