GRN Contestest space is part of what Gallia considers to be part of its space, of course they'd rush their police forces in to secure it, as well.

Exactly. Enforcing Gallic law, gathering intelligence, trade patterns, information on factions, hearsay from the rest of sirius and so on, while also being able to assist the Navy in joint operations. In my opinion the devs have been very generous when designing Gallic IDs, ZOIs, Weapons and ships. If only we could spread the word.

They can act as the "Interior Troops" in conquered space to support order and pacify the population, but they have nothing to do on the frontline.

France's police force is part of its military, IRL. At least, the Gendarmerie is, which is what the GRP is supposed to represent, I believe.

Plus, Gallia is already moving civilians on the frontline so they may start mining and such already.

Tau23 =/= frontline.

They're bringing civilians to the conquered space.

As for police, it has nothing to do in, say, Dublin or Leeds. It lacks both training and equipment.
