It seems two more highly used file sharing sites also go down after the MegaUpload incident. However they weren't slammed like the MegaUpload, it seems to be voluntary until they both reorganize.

It seems everyone in the file sharing business has been laying bricks and decided to make sure they're files are above board.

Will other sites go down? Only time (or feds) will tell.

EDIT: Fileserve has just gone down too.

EDIT 2:

Megaupload – Closed

Fileserve – Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Deleting multiple files. Banning Premium accounts. Closed Affiliate Program.

Filesonic – Stopped filesharing. You can only download your own files. Closed Affiliate Program. Changed server location Jan 22, 2012. Taken down it's Facebook page Now using Digital fingerprinting. Files are being deleted as soon as uploaded (as Hotfile did).

VideoBB – Closed Affiliate Program.

Filepost – Started suspending accounts with infringing material (as Hotfile did)

Uploaded.to – Blocked U.S. access.

Videozer – Closed Affiliate Program.

Filejungle – Owned by Fileserve (same as above). Testing USA IP addresses
blocking.

Uploadstation – Owned by Fileserve (same as above). Testing USA IP addresses blocking.

4Shared – Deleting multiple files

EnterUpload - Down (Redirect)

Sad day for the internet.

But with all criminality, it will never be gone.

I can live with the file sharing sites being closed, but video hosting sites going down is a real bummer.

What if gaming site filesharing goes down? It'll badly affect modding, because I know those damned lawyers will find a way to knock them off.

all that stuff is quite useless

there will be new filesharing sites - having their servers in countrys which give a crap about US/EU/whatever-law

some of the existing ones will just locate their servers in such countrys too.

some "OH MAH GAWD!" now. but over long or short - that action did not rlly change much.

I don't know how "vulnerable" these kind of sites are to copyright claims, but ModDB going down would be an apocalypse for gaming communities.

Mods get shut down on case by case basis. Far easier to throw a solicitor's letter at a small mod than at Moddb itself.

Eh, time to move onto the next type of file sharing. Torrents still go strong after all.
