Well, the trader vs pirate debate seems to be heating up again. So I thought I may as well throw in a few words. Why does everybody say that "Kill me now" traders are oorp? Why does everyone say that "2milrdai" pirates are oorp? Realisticly...it can all be within roleplay...because roleplay is limitless in potetial. Surely if we have the ability to cloak...we can cloak our escape pods the moment that their jetissoned from our exploding ships? And surely those pirates who demand money at a very fast rate are playing the role of a pirate who just wants his money instead of a chat about how good or bad the organisation he/she works for is. Yes, things get blown way out of proportion and make these things hard to believe as true. But that's only because we know the real story behind the character. Everybodies role is different, we can't just class this group as oorp or that group as oorp. Cause really, we're all oorp. If we all roleplayed properly...nobody would play here anymore because we'd have to re-make our ships everytime they got blown up.
People like to label any action that does not please them as ooRP or noRP. In fact it has nothing to do with roleplay or the lack of it.
What I don't like personally is the common misconception that as long as people use "//" infront of a sentence they are free to talk crap out of character.
Here is a quote hitting the nail on the head.
' Wrote:I love to be pirated. But I'm even weirder: I enjoy '2milordai' pirates too. They add risk and challenge, just as the more expressive ones. If he's a threat, aggressive and knows what he does, who am I to judge him just for he doesn't speak academic galactic common? I love space to be dangerous.
By the way, the same goes to traders who cruise silently while I type my demands, or shoot me without a word before I could do that. Roleplay can be done with guns too.
Not that I prefer that over stopping and having a nice chat.

I don't think I need to say anymore really. The way they play their role is their business, not anyone elses.

I would however disagree with that one. There are certain boundaries set in place in order to make the universe we play in plausible and believable.
I mean being pirated by unicorns and be saved by a butterfly wizard. Roleplay much?
It's still your quote, nonetheless. It's only being used as an example, nothing personal against yourself. Indeed we are bound by certain realistic entities that prevent the utterly wild and unrealistic from happening. These are better known as the rules. Where in the rules does it say that a trader has to pay? Where in the rules does it say that pirates demanding 2 million credits quickly is wrong (so long as the grey area of 'suffiecient time' is adheard to)? What may be out of roleplay to some, is within role play to others. Telling other people that their doing it wrong is wrong in itself. They don't have to play by anyone elses standards except for the ones posted on their ID's and here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4040
Traders and pirates alike don't have to play to each other standards, only the standards posted in the rules section.

I agree, you are not alone who thinks such.

The idea is a permaban on death for transports, there would be no more traders just waiting for respawn instead of playing along.
So let me know guys what do you think about it. I think it could work and benefit greatly to roleplay.
Btw, this entire post is a satire. It was really meant for flood but I gave it a try in general discussion section.
