Background:
6 weeks ago, i wasted XX,-'‚¬ for a computer game. Wasted means for me, i have played it for at max ~ 10 hours until today. Fail. Bad, old, boring game.

And of course it was not the first time i bought a computergame, which was rarely in use months later.

...

Few days ago, i have asked myself about my funny times here, and that i pay nothing for this fun.

...

Compared to my total ~1500 hours only with Cody, and all the fun i have had here until this day and beyond, it is a bad joke, that i have wasted XX,-'‚¬ for a game, which i don't play anymore after 6 weeks, while not having sponsored this great mod and server already, which served me so much fun in the past.

How many funny hours here - not only the game server, but also the forums? (Thank you dear community, by the way)

In result, i have donated the server today, with a bit more than the above mentioned XX,-'‚¬.

...

Please discuss the meaning of this post, after you have added all the money, which you have wasted the last months/years for games, which you don't play anymore at these days. Compare that with playing here.

Last note: I posted this only for the thoughts behind my donation. NOT to show off about my donation. Discuss only the intention please.

Thanks.

The only game which was really worth investing money and gave me a lot of hours of fun was Medieval II: Total war. Got it for 7 pounds or something. Was worth it.

But I wouldn't spent a single penny for game like freelancer. Maybe that's just because I'm way to used to get a lot of software for free. And if I would be living somewhere else I would prolly think otherwise. But now.. I don't because I can.

Anyway Freelancer is technicly free to play game. Yes you need to spent money for the disc, but you don't need one to play the game or play it online. Once FLMM or any mod is installed no disc required for legal version

Did I had thougths to support this community. Yes I did. Will I? - propably not. But maybe... someday.

Bought it for twenty bucks sometime after I started playing Discovery... I'd say I got my twenty bucks worth.

Bit like Minecraft, I paid $15, and I've poured hundreds of hours into it.:P

I actually pulled out my original Box for Freelancer to check. $64.99 Canadian, and that was a pre-order at computer store before it was even released.
Have i got my money's worth? I would have to say hell yeah!
Have i donated cash to Disco? yup quite awhile ago when they asked to save server.
Would i spend money now on Freelancer? Yes in a second.
Would i spend money to support Discovery now? Probably not. I see to much "special" treatment, and off limit items at present. It is becoming Pay to play in terms of who you know, how much time you can invest, and who you play with. Even if a little cash got unique gear here like other games(WoT/Invictus/Combat arms) i still probably would not donate. To much this faction better then that. We got this you cannot have it. And so on. Discovery is going from a unique Freelancer mod at present, and down the road many MANY others have gone. They are mostly gone now, or have no player base. Even Discovery numbers have dropped in last 2 weeks again. Sure the hard core players will stay, and why not. They get anything they ask for. But the casual players are again leaving, and for same reasons. "BALANCE"

see it the other way:D

how much money you've could earned by working the time you played.

or... how much nice thing you could have done xD

I WANT MY MONEY AND TIME BACK! Q_Q

well - there is no other game than freelancer I played thaaaat much.

my xfire account shows ~6000 hours
and i stopped using xfire when i joined disco

all together i must say - HELL - this ~40-50euros (dont remember how much exactly it was) were the best investment I made in computer games ever.

On an average day, 4 hours of dev time. Sometimes less, sometimes a lot more. Ain't got a whole lot to contribute financially, but help out in other ways.

Wide awake in a world that sleeps, enduring thoughts, enduring scenes. The knowledge of what is yet to come.
From a time when all seems lost, from a dead man to a world, without restraint, unafraid and free.
