If it required Igiss' permission, one would imagine that Igiss would have posted the Download Link to the 4.86 beta.

Gallia is fun. So many empty systems btu I noticed the general trend to increase the system numbers to have so many so dead systems for sake of so many systems to have...oh wait.

Srsly. Lockdown Liberty for week. Anytime during the 200 peaks, half of people are in Lib - related systems. Thats weee.

Locking down Liberty won't help Gallia. Gallia is not going to provide what Libery can. Liberty is not the problem. It's the biggest hub of Sirius in relation to anything and it will remain that way.

Gallia is genuinely too big, and that's what this thread is addressing.

Igiss, of course. My point is that those who currently work on the mod should be those who make the decision to shrink Gallia to a reasonable size.

PS. Don't forget to chuck in some more links so we can, you know, actually fly there. Each house has a minimum of three Jump Holes that those out of favour with the law enforcement can use to enter said house. Gallia has none. Both minefields are securely under GRN control. Hello "we don't want Gallic Unlawfuls to interact with Sirius unless you base out of a system which is difficult to access".

Oh, but please do, just for a week or so. Seriously, the area around Manhattan serves more or less only as a chatroom - and as the launchpoint of the random gankmobs in situations where the Manhattan-huggers outnumber everyone else by 10:1 and there is no real risk involved. I play this game a lot (too much) and seriously, there is a handful of characters I have only ever seen sitting around at Manhattan. I bet they undock at Manhattan, spend a few hours chatting, and then dock again. Stuff like that can (and should IMO) be done on the forum.

Edit: The purpose of course not being to annoy said huggers, but to allow for a wider spread of the population to everyone's enjoyment.

Anyone who suggest locking Liberty has obviously not stopped to think about how that will affect factions and players based in Liberty.

It will not help the server, only annoy those who are not the problem in the first place.

Granted, many of Discovery's rules seem to do just that, but we don't need more of that.

It's a terrible idea.

It's never gonna happen anyways. And yeah it would be unfair to characters based in Liberty, although it might be an incentive to create new (and very Gallic) characters, that some might come to enjoy more than their Liberty ones once the week is over. But it is a tragedy that we have all this beautifully crafted and totally unused space. And it is a problem that such a large part of the server population never ventures out of Liberty (and some never venture more than 10K away from Manhattan) - it's a vicious cycle because players attract more players: If I want to pirate, Liberty is the place to go because a lot of the most commonly used trade routes start/stop or pass through Liberty and this is where all the traders are. No fun in hugging a trade lane in Gallia for 6 hours, while only NPC's passes by, and no fun in policing Gallia when there are no criminals etc.

Perhaps changing the trade routes so Liberty isn't such a big centre for trading, but that will take away from the lore, I guess. How about a financial crisis sweeping Liberty, causing a lot of companies to go bankrupt, thus no longer buying/selling certain goods?

Liberty is intended to be the hub of Freelancer.
Do you think the original devs put it in the center of Sirius simply because it seemed like a good idea at the time?

The problem with Discovery is the other places really don't give enough of an incentive to leave.
