Sometimes I think that 99% of the player base in discovery is completely mental. Proof of it is watching this thread, which started so well, turn into a grudge match over weaponry and personal dissatisfactions with game-play mechanics.

That you guys could turn this into a discussion of ship specs and balance, when it could be an opportunity for players to directly address each other for the sake of improving the game experience for many many people.... is insane.


This is about players having regard for each other on an rp server where OORP behaviour should never overwhelm rp intentions.
That OORP stuff overwhelms us in Corsair space every day, with the result that it becomes a big OORP pile-on.

The admins have given up, the official factions have given up. the devs have given up.
The most experienced players laugh and mock.

Shame on the lot of you. If you keep this up then You are the noobs. You are the lolwhuts.

Regardless of your post-count or your self-opinion.
Regardless of being an admin or a dev or a king of the server. Or just ordinary smuck like me.

You are worse than those new players that don't understand.. cos you do understand, but you still contribute to the decline in standards that makes watching players try and commit to serious RP ingame like watching a car crash where the hate just piles on top of the casualties.

I read some of the stories from a few years ago, and see what players were capable of creating, and then compare it with what goes on now.. and I realise that I have nothing to contribute, cos those players are gone.

I wish I had known those people. It seems like a few years ago there was such a vibrant rp community here... I would have LOVED to have been part of it. I'm three months old on this server and I mourn its loss.



Cos Today? All that happens is now and then someone has enough guts to try and stand up and ask that we try and be a little more excellent to each other --> this thread.

And you all pile on.

Wheres an ethics commitee when you need one? Wheres a faction for "lets be excellent to each other!" when you need one?
Wheres the "lets dedicate ourselves to other peoples enjoyment?" crowd?



I'm gonna tell you what RP is for me, before I pull the plug.

RP is story-driven, character-based interaction with other community members, where as much as possible we are going to find our way to a satisfying resolution.

Something that the human being on the other side of my internet connection is going to enjoy as much as me.

We use the game server as a platform to drive events, stories and explorations of characters through dialog, conflict and resolution.

We get to do it on an excellently crafted vehicle of expression. Well done devs.

Sure there are factions out there that don't give a crap and want the biggest baddest ships.

To hell with them.

Rule 0.0 trumps all others.

If being excellent to each other means not flying caps, when you really wish you could, then suck it in.


RP should exist and survive regardless of whether we are all riding space bicyces, but most of you have obviously forgotten that.

Damn. I wish I had a nuke. I would reset the entire server and make everyone start with starfleas.
Then I would only allow players to gain a level for every inspiring rp event they contributed to.

Ain't my server. Ain't my rules.

I guess I'm done.

And on that bombshell, I propose some reason continuing to permeate this thread. The OP's intentions were only positive, why ruin it?

Play nice, play fair, and everybody has fun. We try, but we can't fix a problem without help, and that's got to start here.

So step up if you want to improve your game. Step up to your responsibility of conferring with others for bringing the best experiences for yourselves, or you're going to end up leaving of your own accord, because you'll realise it just isn't worth it.


It isn't worth it.


Draw your own conclusions, and I'll just hope they are the correct ones.

For all the people who are watching this thread in the interest of its original point, we (and by we I mean RHA and TBH leadership) had a nice skype discussion yesterday where we agreed to a bunch of things regarding server gameplay. Some results of that should be visible soon hopefully.

As for fixing this issue.... Restrict Hessian ID and Corsair ID in a way that makes both sides able to enjoy this place some more.

IE: Hessians may not enter gamma,
Sairs may not bring battleships (Osiris/Legate) outside the following systems; Theta, Kappa, Delta, Gamma, O41, Lambda, Eta, Omicron 91 & 94
BHG Core may NOT enter Omicron Alpha and Gamma (like in 4.85)

Then "reset" the osiris to 4.85 "OPness"....

This would make others then hessians cry about unfair battles, and since the remaning group of raiders is mercs and FACE, well. Your a merc, theres bounties for other factions too. Deal with it or beat it.


As for Thor/Praetorian balance. They are not evenly matched in practical use. Although praet is pretty hard to hit from 2k away with cap-guns, it turns so slow that it has issues escaping the "deathzone" of caps, now that solaris has been buffed.
Regardless of stats, Thor feels much quicker at turning, thus it can fling a snac once at 1.6k and escape the solaris deathzone before taking too much damage. Praet wingspan also has an rather annoying tendecy to hook onto asteroids, thus throwing your aim off. Thor does not have such a wingspan.
For bomber v bomber, its always about who can fling their snac in the others face first....

Thor/Preatorian "imbalance" is all about anti-cap efficiency, in which they perform quite different, Thor being the best by far.

Ok first of all, have you even flown the Thor in a battle? As in, while being shot at? Try it, then do the same with a Cutlass and a Praet and then come back and tell me same thing with a straight face.

Second, I don't want to restrict Corsair battleships to their home systems. I like when Corsairs raid with a whole fleet, because it gives us a reason to log our own mixed fleet. I am perfectly fine with seeing Corsair battleships in space, and my first reaction certainly isn't "oh those ganking wankers" or whatever.

The only reason I cry foul is when people try to hypocritically reduce the Hessian ID ZoI while not looking at their own actions in any way, that's when I mention the Corsair ZoI. I do not actually want this ZoI to be reduced, be it for Corsair caps or not.

Seriously, instead of trying to force ID changes, just leave it be and play the game. I hope to get raided in Omega-5 by Corsairs sometimes, be it caps or fighters or (preferably) both. I think all is fine as it is dev wise and ID wise. It's just the players that should stop trying to restrict each others privileges because they think that will somehow fix bad blood when it wont, and it will just create more bad blood in fact.

Govedo, from your posts in this thread it is easy to conclude that you have no idea about ship balance, that you have no idea how the Titan or Odin work and that generally speaking, you dont know squat about fighters or bombers.

So in conclusion, as far as ship balancing and strategy goes, you really shouldnt be the one speaking up.

As for the other stuff, I'll let Blodo cover that.

Im sorry my good man, but we have dealt with those situations throughout whole 4.85 and we have not cried. I dont think we will start now. We dealt with our issues in a different manner, namely, adapting to them and just dealing with them.

May be may be, I am just saying that 5 titans with faction guns had no chance in 4.85 vs 5 Odins with faction guns, to back up what I say ask around the corsair players they would confirm it, titan is slower and easier to hit and the corsair guns have 150 speed less and less refire rate, and Corsair guns got nerfed in 4.86. It does not require much to see the straight facts really. If you does not believe me ask around- no one of the corsair side enjoyed much shooting the hessians in fighter group fights because of the said facts.

And again I would ask not Blodo the hessian but Blodo the dev why the corsair fighter guns got nerfed in 4.86?
Reason for it would be fine.

Salas efficiency was decreased by a negligible amount considering the Titans core and Pulses were UNIVERSALLY Nerfed along with the shield Graviton shields Pulse resistance being set to 0


The only particularly deficient Sair equipment was the Colda and that has been buffed.

Like I said, you have no idea. The Corsair guns also arent that bad. Yes they got nerfed, if you have such a problem with that, use codenames. I have seen PLENTY of people who make good use of Salamancas.

in your case Titan vs Odin.
You can't compare those things.
Since skill is pretty much the main issue in balance.

And "omg tiz got nerfed" so did the debs in numbers.
But they have the same efficiency against shields as in .85

Slow m/s of guns also isn't a real good thing to look at.
As some people can aim and hit better with 600ms than 750ms.

Then again this isn't about ship balance, the topic that is.
It's about how both sides players deal with each other oorply.

Which at the moment, isn't exactly warm.
But then again, flying both Corsair and Hessian ships.
What does that make me? Should I hate myself now?
